Afternoon all,

As per this thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=81508&highlight=bypass+stock+amp
I have finally got round to buying the recommended lead and pulling the dash apart to fit the new lead in an attempt to bypass the stock amp.

The problem I have is the lead PC2-17-4 as recommended by loads of people has a different connector to the one on the cars loom.
It fits the stereos output block but doesn't match up to anything on the car,

See pics below:

50350 This is the connector on the car that all of the stereo wiring goes into

50351 This is an existing lead that bridges the wiring between the loom and the stereo

50352These are the two connectors on the lead that I have bought from Halfords

Im guessing I have the wrong lead OR im missing a lead that bridges from the loom to the new lead.

Can anybody help?

Have you shoved your hand down the passenger side of the transmission tunnel and looked for the end of the proper loom?

The stock loom ends about here and has another lead joined onto it. You have to remove that lead and plug your autoleads in there.

No prob. Let us know how you get on. I found the sound quality increased immensely just from doing this.

Put everything back together and the damn things got no bleeding power now. Might be a dodgy earth or something (I've had this before)

Not had time to pull it all out again as the light was fading so it'll have to be next weekend after the ace meet on wed.

Im assuming that the lead will only fit where it is supposed to go and that there are different connectors for different things...

What I mean is, theres no way I can accidently plug the stereo into the aircon or something?

No, you can't go wrong really. Did you find the part of the loom I was talking about?

It'll just be a bad connection mate, or possibly a popped fuse - these things can happen when playing with stereo stuff. I don't know what else shares the stereo fuse but perhaps see if the cigggy lighter has stopped working also.

Yeah, I think so... below the stereo on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel behind the dash, theres a few of them in a row together, do they all do the same thing but are different connectors depending on what is being used?
I'll try and get a picture next time I get the dash off (again!)

The stereo was working yesterday, before I took it out of the dash
The ciggy lighter stopped working last august at santapod (9v air pump blew up half way through airbed inflation), probably just a fuse but never really used it anyway so haven't got round to sorting it out.
