The Bahrain economy only runs because of the UK, AUS and NZ engineering expat fraternity that live out there. Even the UAE military is tutored by UK civilians. UK expat living conditions is second to none out there though

Legal laws and punishments are harsh and quickly implemented while the general populace are fairly lazy and lethargic!

Doing any form of business with the locals can be bloody hard work at the best of times!

I try to avoid the place like the plague but every so often I have to visit - never a pleasant experience:(
