Why have a late night meet on a weekday in the wintertime ?

Surely a Sunday or Saturday afternoon meet would be: Warmer, easier to see, attract more people from further away, give people more time to socialise and allow them to get home at a reasonable hour so they are fresh for work the next day.

The only people who benefit from a meet such as this are those that live close to the meet point and do not have family/work commitments.

Needless to say I cannot make it. :)

i see what you mean, but the reason is a historic one........

Basically the pub in question is very car friendly and give lots of car clubs the exclusive little side room.....they allocated us the first tuesday of every month..........its not really 'our' choice every month but it ensures our invite (as a club) to the summer BBQ which is a good meet IMO (lots of other Marques there too)

We have been there on a weekend (after some of the Box hill meets) and maybe we should look to do this more often?

I think Gamer has a good point...

As we all know, last year saw fewer & fewer at the SEM's, especially as it clashes with the Ace cafe Jap meet which has been popular.

Perhaps it is time to have a look at the day / time / venue.

It's obviously not up to me though I'm not a local, but as Gamer says, if it was on a Saturday / Sunday afternoon I bet it would attract more people.

Perhaps it'as something we can have a natter about at the Feb SEM ?

Just my 2ps worth....

However, if we are not getting the people turn up, then what is the point in having a regular haunt at the same venue on a week day each month.... Weekends are good..... Might be better for most?????

It doesn't really bother me if we change the venue as long as we get the people coming and it is roughly within the same area and the parking is still fairly good and not too much further.

Maybe a vote is in order.

Due to work commitments i havent been able to make this meet for at least 6 months, which im pretty gutted about as i did enjoy the S.E.M. Would love a date change to maybe a Sunday afternoon (when lets be honest most of us are sat round twidling our thumbs, or maybe thats just me ;))

Totally agreed, i'm also guilty of not going to Fairmile for at least six months :( due to work.

A sat or sun lunch meet would be v.good, but i am sure it would hard to arrange a pub to put aside a area for a unknown number on a weekend..

FYI A wile back while talking to the management at the Fairmile they were taking about doing 2 big bbq meets this year.. one at the beginning of summer one at the end..

Hi Guys,

Have spoken to the Fairmile this morning to see if there is a possibility of moving to a weekend... I have arranged to discuss this with the Manager at Tuesday's Meet and hopefully if everyone is in agreeance we will try to have the changes in place from March!!

Have also thought that we may be able to share with another club for a bit of diversity like corvette club or similar , but this is all obviously with everyones approval including the fairmile.

Had thought that if we do not use the Fairmile we would lose the BBQ and summer event slot. Hope this is ok.
