My car wiring - worst ever?!

Ha, ha, not good.

When I took my car to Chris Wilson a few months ago to have RLTC fitted, amongst plenty of other things, he mentioned that the wiring behind my dash was an absolute nightmare! Possibly the worst he's seen.

My shite CODE alarm has been playing up the last 2 days and yesterday evening I couldn't start the car. So, today I contacted a friend in the alarm business and he's currently got the car and fitting a Concept 650 to it. I was going to go to Matt Harwood, but it was a bit of a mission and I needed to get this sorted asap. Got it for £275 fitted :)

However, he's just called me and said it's also the worst wiring he's ever seen! Worse than Cosworths that come in, and they normally have about 5 alarms! He's taken a pic and I'll upload it later.

He's going to try and sort the wiring out, but I doubt he can. So, a trip to Matt Harwood will be needed for sure, to have this sorted, my ICE sorted out and alarm checked over. Pic may put you off Matt! :p

I can't wait to see the pic when I collect the car at 3pm today! Prepare for a shock!

Some of the wiring in my JDM supra was dodgy. Apparently the Japs like to use 2 methods for fitting gadgets to cars:

:: Scotch Clips (which sometimes sever the wire completely), and

:: twisting the wires around each other (sometimes without insulation!)

Thankfully the company who fitted my alarm and stereo sorted it all out by soldering the splices so there was no chance of them coming apart and causing havoc/setting fire to my car :)

Well i've just seen the pics and OMG! The guy is going to email them to me. He works for West Coast Customs too.

The wiring was a complete and utter mess. Luckily, he's sorted it all out, bound it up, and tucked it neatly behind the dash. It was a shocker.

Out went my CODE alarm and Clifford VK immobiliser! In with the new Concept 650 and it works a treat!

Very happy :)
