Sorry I'm just not used to reading comments of a non **** taking, factual nature on here :search:
I suspect it's a cunning plan by the retailers - you don't tend to buy bananas by weight, most people get 4 or 6 etc.
By making them bigger they still sell the same amount but because they are sold by weight they make more money.

Sometimes you go and they're all really small and stubby like a dwarfs fingers.
