View Full Version : Taking Bets - Death of my car

I was messing with the car yesterday, tried to get throttlebody off, Blitz LM IC pipe in way, couldn't get under, tension clips on hoses hurting fingers, no room for tools, raining etc so I gave up and put it back together.

At some point I've obviously pulled a lower hose off when wiggling the IC pipe as I now get that familiar, slightly nice, yet problematic "whoosh" of boost leak when driving. This shouldn't have happened as I paid for Mikalor clamps but having never removed the undertay I can't be sure that's what was fitted... we'll see, it could be a split hose.

It's still raining, I'm at work, it will be dark tonight and so on so in an attempt at what should be a quick fix I dropped in to a garage down the road that I haven't used before. Lots of smiling spotty lads and a reassuringly respectable owner chap.

I've pointed out what the problem is, I've told them where it's likely to be but as yet haven't had a call back to say it's sorted / can't be sorted by them.

How many hours until I get a phonecall to say it's been crashed?

damn man. did you take note of the mileage?

I had neg on the battery off yesterday so trip counters reset - it's done 10 miles since so we'll see :)

It's very slippy out there today - a full write-off would be nice but failing that I'd settle for the passenger side needing a respray, ideally a rock will hit the roof so that gets done too.

I feel your frustration, (see this thread:CLICK ME (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=94680)

I managed to get the throttle body and manifold back off, but it is pissing it down. i bet when i refit it the noise is still there and im going to have to bite the bullet and get someone better than me to fix it.

By the way im going for the full write off option ;) :d

May i select the 'full write off with associated explosion' option?

How many dead?

Shall we say 6?

Of course, that includes the spotty chav, so its not a total loss :)

So for future reference, leave the bloody throttle body alone. :)

Lesson learnt - don't try and take it off unless you can take the IC pipe off too.

I might mod it at some point though so you can remove part of it without having to go under the car.

Garage called 10 minutes ago to say it's ready, so far so good... will get it around 4 to ensure they have plenty of time to take it out in the wet.

Ask them to test the traction system as it has been playing up :)

Does it make the right noises now? Do the turbo's both work? :)

It sounded cooler when it had the leak but it feels better now. I can't really remember the last time I used the 2nd turbo, I'm not too fussed if only one works ;)

100 miles with the odo disconnected and then reconnected .1 miles before home along with the trip meter. :D

HAHA, why, are you going to throw your flat cap at me?

Sorry I didn't organise a pint when I was up before crimbo, ended up losing a day sat in turbofit (no fault of theirs though) so I had less time with my son & family. I will sort something out for later in the year though.

Luckily I forgot all about that. Shame really, I could've done with a pint that evening seeing as how the journey home from work involved spending £250 on new tyres.:(
