View Full Version : Clifford IntelliGuard 950 Driving Me Insane!
Before I start I have to stress that this clifford system came with the car when I bought it, I didnt have it installed myself.
Right the problem is with the intelliguard 950 is that the bloody thing keeps going off all the time!!!!! Its usually random, but recently the alarm has been going off after about 30 seconds of me arming the alarm and walking away from the car. The car battery is good and the remote batteries appear to be good too. Are clifford alarms really this bad? I know its flexible and can do lots of things, but its really doing my head in not knowning I can just leave the car there without the alarm going off!
I had a Cobra alarm on my old Supra and that was great, not a problem with it, but the clifford is starting to become embarrassing and annoying my neighbours!
Any ideas on how to sort this ladies and gents?
When I had this problem with a clifford, my glass sensor was too sensitive and needed to be turned down slightly! your problem is finding the sensor :D
Either that or a dodgy sensor can do this. Can you establish which one is triggering it?
Manuals are in the download area I think?

if it gose off mate once you unlock it you should get a number of beeps this will tell you what sencer set it off .
right, next time it goes off I'll count the beeps and refer to the manual...

you dont have to wait for it to go off you can enter you code and go into the program then it will flash the in car led to show you the most recent triggers , hope this helps
if the alarm goes off, when you get into the car and turn the ignition on the clifford light will flash at you in sequence, a bit like a engine diag light. The amount of flashes denotes the problem, just cross referance with the manual

Had loads of cliffords, fotted two and inherited 3 at least, one one gave no problems. I hate alarms !
If I would have paid for this Clifford, I wouldnt be happy, I can tell you that...
I work for Subaru and we get a few Scoobys with these systems on and we always get trouble with them, they are complete crap.My advice to you is to rip the system out and instal a Sigma alarm system. These are Subaru official systems and we hardly ever get problems with them.Completely programable and never false trigger but Cat 1 approved.
I think Clifford just get a good 'rep' for being plastered all over chav boy racer mags.
Thats exactly what it is.The technology in the system its self is very old and backward.Rip it off the car and stick it on E-Bay for some chav to buy for is saxo.We have had situations where customer drops his car off in the morning and we have been unable to drive it into the workshop because the system goes off and stalls the car.
ive never had one single problem with the clifford ive fitted.
Bad installation is usually the cause, fitting tilt sensors above the exhaust channel, etc all going to be prone to problems

I have an IG950 and it is superb, never once had problem
As with anything it is down to who and how it was fitted.
I would agree with the carbonangle issues are generally due to bad installation. As for moving the car and it cutting out - its by design as it thinks your stealing the car. The owner should have turned antijax off.
You will have a different opinion of cliffords once you have had the antijax system save your car from being stolen! even with the keys.
Clifford are certainly a reputable make and Matt Harwood will back that up, and he's a top professional alarm install techy!
I've had my 650 recently fitted and not a single problem yet. Although getting used to Blackjax is a right bitch as it's gone off plenty of times so far - user error!

jusy my two pence worth , i have been fitting cliffords for 15 + years and genrally they are good , sensor mounting ( microwave )
is all important , as with ALL alarms some times you get faulty parts , clifford had a problem with aerials not so long a go what
you have to bear in mind is that the clifford is a comlex system
with vaious outputs etc and the insatll time has to reflect this
if you want a basic system you might be better off buing a more basic system ..
As for the orignial post cliffords number is ( they are called directed now ) 01372 847120 they will be able to help you with a dealer nerest to you , and if not send you a owners guide
Gotta be honest, had a Clifford on my old SX, that didnt have any problems, except with the cat walkin past at night.
Not all they're cracked up to be though. Seeing the 'professional' fitting of some of these systems makes me wonder if that Cat1 certificate is actually worth it.
My Sup has a custom made alarm on it, which I made and built inside the ECU casing. Theres no way in hell someones gonna start it. Cost me about £30 to build, has rolling codes, remote start, turbo timer and best of all - It never goes off unless someone is acually breaking in!
