As everyone remembers, i have some time free during march 2007. I provided a post to offer my services as a enthusiast to do a single turbo conversion for a candidate. I had various members contact me and thank you for all your enquires. After going through the selection process i had decided on 1 candidate.

WKDTIME has agreed to accept my proposal. Please remember I am not a garage, I purely do this as a hobby. This thread will document the procurement and install of all the parts. I have stated to ADNAN about my responsibility towards this project. This project is to provide a single turbo conversion capable of 550hp, which is my goal for a reliable daily driver. Futher power gains would be achieved on ADNAN discretion.

Warranty of work – This would be a topic that many people out there would address and have various views upon. After each section of the install is done , there will be photographic proof on the condition of work that has been carried out. Please remember many people have different views on ways to install various parts, the install process is based on my knowledge and understanding of these parts, they may be different to yours. As we have agreed Adnan and myself, I can provide a warranty on the quality of work. If parts fail within the first 6 months I can get them replaced or repaired. However as with all single conversions, there must be attention spent on running the cars correctly . e.g regular oil change / regular servicing of all perishable parts/ monitoring of AFR / ETG readings etc …

All moving parts for this project has been purchased , NEW . If a part was used or second hand I will identify this. Tuning of the car be be carried out via a RR ROAD, using a MAP ecu . There is AFR (wideband)/ ETG gauges for monitoring. I will only tune the car to the safe limits of 550hp. Yes the setup can be increased to about 700hp , but I will not undertake this.

Parts such as the turbo will carry the warranty of the manufactures, the same as the inejctors. I can only warranty the condition of work carried out. This has been agreed.

Iam to provide :

TURBO KIT
FUEL SYSTEM
FUEL COMPUTER

Rolling road printout.

I will be using the MAP ecu for this , using the stock ignition map will get me the 550hp that iam after. At the moment there are other areas that Adnan has to think about :

1:clutch - he is running stock at the moment
2:cams

I should get the target amount running 1.4-1.5bar.

All set up now for an SP T67 conversion which will be carried out my Michel Lane following his previous thread.

We both decided that the whole installation will be documented and photo'd for the club, this will also ensure that neither of us will let each other down as everything will be seen by everyone.

Your right about the cams, I could have gone for 0.81 A/R and that would have bumped it up a bit but at the cost of a bit more lag.

Ill get them at a later date, besides i always change up at 6k rpm:D

haha very true i never really had a massive issue with it and mine made over 600

you will love the a/r full boost comes in so early and really hard up through the gears i used to spank everything

downside you tend to be on boost all the time near enough so makes the car very very juicy...............but who cares:d

As said in the other thread, fancy putting a video of it together...

Hell, I'll chip in for tapes and you can even borrow my old vid camera, I'm sure there are enough people here who would help edit all the crud out of it.

What do you reckon?

My thinking would be,

Get a few camera's, put them on tripod's or duck tape them to the walls....

And just hit record, and then clean it up afterwards...

Jake

Video sounds like a lot of hassle and expense for very little gain over photos. Some static video is never going to show much detail and anything else would be a PITA for Michel to do while trying to get on with the job.

650's at 1.4Bar in top gear......you'd be pretty close to maxing out the duty cycle of the injectors.

720's would be an ideal choice, but im going for future proofing incase i want more power:)

Just to echo what has been said, 650's are not adequate for a T67 if you want to run more than 1.2 bar. Here's some info Ian C sent me:

My 720's at 38psi static run around 85% to 90% duty at the top end of the rev range and 1.4bar boost. 650's are fine for a T61 at 1.4bar, maybe 1.6 if you crank up the fuel pressure, but you'd see 98% to 100% duty at 1.4bar on a 67, leaving absolutely no headroom for the boost creeping up a bit or running richer in higher gears for intercooler effects etc etc so frankly I wouldn't map that high, maybe 1.2bar maximum.

BTW, good luck with the project Adnan, will be interested to hear your impressions after its done.

Cheers for that Homer :) .

What made me think 650's would be ok, was hearing an owner of a t67 saying he wished he'd stayed with the 650's over the larger injectors he has in the car now, something about the car running better, and the bigger injectors being overkill.

It wasn't mapped properly then, or had an fueling computer not up to the job (eg an SAFC wouldn't run properly with huge injectors).

I wouldn't know mate to be honest, maybe he went for bigger injector's for the reason's yourself and wkdtime have mentioned. His car is mapped beyond 1.2 bar.

Well Adanan (wkdtime) dropped his car of for me to start the install. The first thing we had to sort out was the clutch , here are some pics of the ACT PRESSURE PLATE/ BRONZE 6 PUCK PLATE and FERNANDIZ LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL.

I will be taking the engine out to do this install because it will take less time. Various problems i have encountered so far is the DP/MP is 4 inch's Adanan exhaust is just short of 3 inch and has a 2 bolt design , i have a 4 inch vband to 2 bolt adaptor to do the job. I think iam going to change the exhaust setup to a 3.5 inch system to the back box..but thats later.

Well engine came out, this was due to some small issues with the car - leaking power steering pump / broken engine mount. it makes the job easyer and we can sort out any other issues aswell. We inspected the timing belt and it was loose, fan belt very worn . The power steering pump had a leaky gasket so we retified it with a new gasket kit. The engine was held in place with one mount , the other had was not bolted to the car, because the main hanger was broken . pictures of the engine on the floor. The clutch as been installed. Next will be the manifold, wastegate, dp, mp, turbo.

Well its a week before the tuning and so far we have sorted out :

1:full fuel system install
2:various corroded pipes
3:exhaust issues

The Fuel system we have used is a one deviced by myself, it carries 2 walbro pumps , running a dual line towards the front of the car , then both lines go into a -10n aeromotive fuel filter , then a line from the filter (-10n) ,which then goes to the rail -10n to -6n, the FPR (aeromotive unit) then takes the 2nd input of the fuel rail -6n. The standard return line is used , but converted to a -6n in the engine bay. The location is situated for ease of removal at a later period. I also removed the charcoal canister.

We applied a new koyo rad to the car aswell as a 4inch fmic , this will help the cooling during the summer months. Why we choose the kayo to the fluidyn ?? the kayo is thicker and you can place an new bonnet without the worries of it not fitting properly as the fluidyn is noted for (various carbon bonnets that require bonnet pins).

We also removed about an inch of muck on the engine bay , cant beleive how dirty this car was .. you need to keep it clean from now on ...unfortunately i cant shine the engine , it needs a serious clean and the tb/manifold needs polishing .

All the coil pack clips were shot , so i replaced all of them, the seal for the intake manifold had a kink in it , so we had to replace this. overall the job was not a straight forward as i imaged, but you have to take this into consideration it is a "L" REG car, things are bound to have wear and tear on it ....

Tuning is on friday , so ill post the graph up on monday

Here are some pics of another customer engine that iam putting together. This is based on the bottom end i have for sale. All should be well for friday for him as he is picking it up. There are some other issues that he needs to deal with when he gets abit of cash.

1: Wheel alignment
2: Brakes- convert to UK spec, people dont go in the car with him with the JSPEC on , else make sure you got a runway to stop.
3: The noisy muffler - or turn the music up
4: Body kit -else you might develope chitty chitty bang bang side skirt wings over 100 liptons....:p
5: The huge rev counter on the dash !!! how big is it , it seems he needs a reminder to change gear , with the big red light !!;)
