First stage of headlight duct completed

Hey All,

A friend of mine completed the first part of my headlight mod today, its now down to me to seal it and finish it off, cant decide if I should paint the pipe/duct black or not.

He done a good job and getting the pipework and lense cut.

The duct is based on a 4" pipe which I hope to connect up to a sealed airbox like the Viper unit shown below.

Hopefully no more hot engine bay air for me

When finished it should look something like the one of the red car.

Was also thinking of putting some wire mesh over it like this to stop idiots putting anything up it.

Ide say black or silver (Same as the headlight itself)

yeah people say you can use a heatgun, well dont fecking bother use the oven or not at all. And make sure you get the seal right cos finding condensation after a week is a bitch

I am going to use some black windscreen sealer which should hopefully do the trick

thats what i did Wez, make sure you heat it up in the oven first the same as spliting it, drown it in sealer then get brutal to make sure its mated properly, mine misted up slightly for a day then has been clear ever since

what you gonna do when it rains?! surly water going stright into the filter is not good.

I dont really use the car in the rain.

surely as you have removed a headlight you wont have sufficent lighting?

Its only one side of main beam...will be fine.

hmmm good point there, could have the pipe and a slant so a bit of rain will poor back out, helps a little even though rain can still get in.

It's not a stock filter, close and that's what I first thought. It does look paper based.

The stock paper filter runs in multiple rows of horizontal strips rather than the two rows of vertical strips.

nice work Wez, I'd paint it black and have a rubber seal around the lip like in the last photo. Makes is nice and clean.
