Heres how I done my front speaker install.
Works very well =)

I was thinking of doing this before I went with 6.5" components instead. How does it look with the door card in place?

It's the standard speaker housing and makes the weeney speakers in there sound very large indeed. It's quite a clever bit of acoustic engineering.

the standard ones are so brittle.

removed both door mirrors, and both are shagged.

the paper crappers just fell to pieces

Neat job! What thickness of MDF did you use? Am thinking of doing something similar but am a little worried that the additional width of the MDF might make the speaker too close to the door card itself?

I used 19mm MDF, but I cut in half so around 9mm thick is it.
It is close but it works fine :cool:

fook wish u had posted this yesterday morning before i took everything apart to fit the usual mdf speaker templates!

what size speakers have u got?

ive still gotta do the drivers side so might try this approach and compare the two.

if it does turn out to sound better and i decide to change the passenger one can those plastic boxes be bought from anywhere??

my speaker size is 4".
I think there is a really good sound in them :d
