got a problem with my amp drove for about 3 to 4 hrs with the stereo up pretty loud just got to where i was going and my sub cut out :( so turned the stereo off, got to the ferry port and put my hand under the seat and the amp was red hot i thought i will let it cool down for a bit and it will be OK, well i was wrong left it over night and it still doesn't work i checked the in line fuse and its ok, what else can i check or have i fragged it ?
my set up is a 12" w0 JL audio sub powered with what was a 600 watt kenwood amp bridged
unlucky dude, check all your cables at back of stereo and make sure none of them are melted and touching each other mate, dont want your stereo getting fcuked aswell

dude you seen my wiring when i had the 206 and you know i never normally take short cuts when doing this kind of stuff
does your amp have its own cooling fan?
if not it may be over heating due to where its positioned,it may be a internal wire then, but id still check behind the stereo mate, just to be safe then

Sounds like an internal component has melted, with out closer inspection does sound like that amp is dead, sorry to say. Kenwood amps dont have any form of internal fan for cooling, and so under a seat with no air flow would not be my first choice of amp location im afraid. Every amp I have installed in any car regardless of built in fans or not has been cooled by at least 2 x 12volt PC fans per amp.

so what amps have internal cooling fans and good enough to power a sub amp has to be 600 watts or over reason for the power being 600 or over is coz it sounded sweet with the 600 watt kenwood

Ok few suggestions of new amps across the budget range, all suitable for powering 1 sub, some with built in cooling others not.
But its easy to mount some external fans under the amp to keep it cool and no extra wiring is required to power them.
Pioneer - Standard amp really
