Pot
I'm half way through swopping the plugs on my NA, to see if it solves the poor running problem I'm having (Starts fine, but after running for about a minute, it starts to run like a bag of cr@p (As if it's on 4/5 cylinders). However, whilst taking the old plugs out, I couldn't help but notice that they were soaking wet (Water, not oil or petrol)? And how rusty some of them were... (See attached blurry pic) Surely this can't be normal? Any ideas on what could be up? (I'm still being paranoid that when the heater matrix was flushed a day before I started having problems they messes something up?...) Cheers in advance. Pot
Water got in there some how. I knew I should have worded the question better lol
DaveK
If water is getting there then it may well be the cause of your running problems - however, new plugs will have the same problem.
michael
Is the rust just at the top of the plugs rather than the threaded part?
Pot
Yes, on the 'nut' part, and in some, 7-8mm up the 'white bit'. Some are worse than others, sadly I didn't think to arrange them in order when I took them out, but I know that the one nearest the front, has no rust at all... absz
nothing to much to worry about it seems the water is getting in from the plastic cover some how. do you have vents in your bonnet or is it standard.
Pot
It's standard, and hasn't been driven today. Someone's mentioned it could just be condensation, but felt too wet to me for it to be that, I could be wrong of course...

Pot
An update : I've finally got the new plugs fitted (Another reason to buy a TT instead of a N/A grrr), and she's running like a dream!... (I haven't driven her yet though (See why in a bit), but the problems happened at standstill too, and they've gone The only sad thing is, being a butterfingered oaf, I managed to drop one of the bolts, and 2 of the nuts for the inlet manifold (Well I'd say it is), down into the engine somewhere... I've substituted them for the same sized ones that come from 'easier to access' places, so now I need to get replacements (As I'm a novice I figured it's safer than taking more things apart, they didn't drop onto the floor, but I'm also going to try shaking them out up and down the cul-de-sac)...
