ive just had the second cat removed from my n/a and it is quite loud when you accellerate hard, but i want more.when under the car i realised that my backbox was HUGE!! the exhaust man said that he could fit a much smaller one in place.what i was wondering is would it make it sound louder? i didnt want it to idle loud as it is loud enough now.i just wanted a bit more noise when i give it some.any suggestions?

I don't think it's just the size of the back box that makes a difference mate.

it'll also vary depending on what silencing is used inside, inner dimension and materials used throughout the exhaust (if you're being really picky you could even vary the number and degree of bends in the exhaust as well as the diameter of piping).

point is, his smaller back box might not necessarily make it louder.

best bet is to go for one of the brand names that you know is high quality and what sort of sound it will produce.

:)

silly suggestion - open the window

sensible suggestion - listen to other members cars, IMO a Blitz has a very loud idle etc. I believe (but can't be certain) that the old superdrager exhausts idled fairly quietly and got nice and raspy higher up the rev range.............
