Hi all,

Anybody have one of these units? I'm just about to buy one but thought I'd ask peoples opinions here first.
I think it looks smart. Really like the JVC and the Clarion but they're a bit pricey.

that looks really smart mate, i like it a lot!

not a bad price either.

only ones i would chose above that would be an alpine or pioneer but then you're talking big bucks i think.

Cheers mate,

That's the best price I can find. The alpine or pioneer ones must be easily pushing a grand or more. Nice tho.

Just looked at the pioneer, ouch. pushing 2k more like.

you cant beat alpine or pioneer for quality but for 1/2 the price that certainly isnt half the quality

Think this is the cheapest Alpine one I can find. It does look really good but out my price range.:(

I like the idea of a video input on these i.e. a little camera. My reversing confidence in the sup is next to nothing.

Thats the one, the one Nic sells is very slightly different but :OK: cheaper.

It looks very nice. Is there any way of disguising or hiding it when you leave the car?

i've been considering the Kenwood & Alpine options recently, along with the JVC one that's a bit cheaper but doesn't have touch screen like the other two.

If you're going for the Kenwood Mike, may i suggest here http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/stock01/ddx6029.asp from what i've read, the 6029 is the newer version of the 6027? and this link has the newer cheaper than the one you've seen.

definitely looks like the Kenwood sits nicer in the dash than the Alpine so i think that's made my mind up, just need the pennies for it now!

Oh & Nic can get you a region free version of the Kenwood for a little more cash ;)

That's a great link mate. The cheapest I found the 6029 was around 550. Much appreciated.

Thats a great price, I bought mine £450 but from a friend, this is even lower than what I paid and YES the 6029 is the best looking IMO as you wont get any thinner frame than this anywhere with any make :)

Nice one. I fitted mine yesterday and got the handbrake wire earthed today. I'm still getting lost in the menus followed by me forgetting what I was wanting to do in the first place.:d

nice one Mike

did you HAVE to wire up the hand brake wire to get a picture?

Mike M
10-12-06, 13:32
erm not as such, It's hugging one of the bolts round the gearstick mount at the moment:innocent:

Ric
10-12-06, 13:54
all the handbreak does is apply a ground to the wire when its up. kenwood do it so you can only watch a picture when the handbreaks up (saftey reasons obviously)

a ground to the same wire does the same effect, making the headunit think the handbreak is on constantly.

10-12-06, 15:28
cool cheers chaps

but if i don't connect anything to this wire then i'll never see a picture?

Mas

true, mine still works once the handbrake is on, but should get it sorted cos its nice to see some thing while driving sometimes :D

no blue illumination :(

Mike M

The whole screen can light up blue.:d

Had to turn the brightness right down tho, very distracting in the dark.

What about the buttons

Mike M

Buttons are nice and blue too. Had to check there couldn't think what they were.:)

just a note for any auto owners, you have to pop it out of Park to allow for the eject mechanism to bring the screen down as it comes into contact with the auto lever
