ardasaliah
Does removing this cat mean that My sup will fail its MOT. I have both in at the moment I have read that this cat is only for cold starts emission testing which we dont have in the UK. Is this correct? How will removing the front cat change the exhaust tone? Cheers

Guest mk47
hey are you looking to just remove the front cat? its alot easier to just remove the 2nd and that will make your exhaust note slightly very slightly louder.. if you were to remove both it will be a more noticeable difference but then you have to do all the other bits involved with bpu.. not sure how it works for a uk spec though. ardasaliah
I just want the car to be a little loader- still pass an MOT and remove some of the restriction to allow a faster spool. Am I asking for to much?
Nic
The front cat is the most restrictive of the 2 and the one to remove if you want a good increase in response and power. On a J-spec TT, removing the first cat will increase boost and you may need to fit a restrictor ring to keep things to a safe level. You'll also need cooler grade plugs to prevent mis-fire at higher boost levels, a boost gauge so you can monitor boost levels and a FCD (Fuel Cut Defender) if you plan on running over 1bar to avoid fuel cut. If your car is in good running order, then it should pass the emissions test with just the 2nd cat fitted. A lot of members remove both cats (this will give best power results) and just replace the second cat come MOT time as it is a 10min job to fit. Removing the front or both cats will increase the sound of the exhaust quite a bit.
ardasaliah
Mines a UK- got colder plugs etc. Son't want to raise boost over 1 bar to play safe.
