Easiest way to remove thread locked screws??

I've got some new boot rubbers (bottom ones) sitting here, but I've not got around to replacing them because I've heard the screws are threadlocked in.

What's the easiest way to get the screws off?? Am I right in thinking a soldering iron on an extension lead from my house to heat the screws up?? Then they should come out?

Make sure you heat them enough else youll round off the screws.

Was gonna use a hair dryer, but was scared of frazzling the paint tbh.

So now I need to borrow someones soldering iron and extension lead... lol.

Yeh i doubt youll frazle the paint but our hairdrier has like a thing to fit on that directs most of the hot air to a small area so i just used that. You only heat it for about 30-90 secs. Like you say anything hot will work.

They refused to budge when I tried a soldering iron for ages, I ended up using a micro blowtorch and even then it took a fair bit of time to heat them enough to remove I found that applying heat while trying to undo the screws worked best.

Micro blowtorch like Micahel said. If your worried about the paint get some tin foil to mask off the paint.

Micro blow torches don't produce that much heat.

It's a tiny flame on the one I have, I cut the rubber off and the metal backing that's still held by the screws acted as a guard to stop the paint taking a hit if I got a twitch

where do you pick up one of those from??

most kitchen shops ... got to caramalise yer onions somehow !

Mini blow torch good for removing super glue aswell. Draper do one the size of a pen and takes lighter gas.
