View Full Version : 12 Megapixel Camcorder, how much ?
Just had an email alerting me to this http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?nov-368&P=1
£90 ! Okay it's not going to be the greatest switches, quality, software etc etc, but 12 megapixel and a 2" lcd screen, for £90 !
Seems a bit of a billy bargain to me. Plus I bet if you opened it up, it would actually be made by a known manufacturer.
probably can't go wrong for that price mate
Note that it says 12MP "Interpolated"... read further down.
3.1 Mega Pixels 1/2" CMOS
So it'll take 3.1MP photo's and do some internal resizing and smoothing to get it to look "ok".
I've looked at earlier models of those though and they seem pretty good, a mate had one and the MPEG4 video quality on them is actually quite decent... for the money anyway ;)
Yeah I bet that'll work well...
Megapixel count isn't everything ESPECIALLY when it's interpolated.
run screaming from the web site. I bought an '11 megapixel' NISIS camera/camcorder last year and the quality was crap. In low light it really struggled, any movement at all and the picture was blurred completely and the delay from pressing the button to the picture actually being taken was shocking, added to the fact that the display on the LCD would freeze when you pressed the button but the picture took half a second later.
I was used to using a Sanyo Xacti VPC C1 with only 3mp and when I went back to the Sanyo it just whipped the arse of the cheap one.
My recommendation is to NOT buy cheap, my NISIS now rests in a draw gathering dust.
