Hey All,
Just thought I would pass this on for those that have AEM ECUs running v1.19 or higher. If you do not connect to the ECU straight after power up it fails to connect, I noticed this after my firmware update, here is the reason and solution :-

The AEMPro serial protocol is different than the Serial Gauge protocol and therefore cannot be used at the same time.
Basically, if the EMS does not see any requests from a PC within a few seconds of EMS start-up, it starts spitting out the Serial Gauge datastream.
Also note that if the serial datastream is running, you cannot interupt it with the PC to connect to the EMS. You will have to power cycle the key so that the EMS recieves a signal from the PC BEFORE it starts putting out the serial datastream, otherwise you get break errors and other stuff in the AEMPro window.
I've found that having to power cycle the EMS to reconnect can sometimes be annoying when tuning the engine so I usually turn the datastream off while tuning and then turn it back on when I'm done. ("Enabled" checkbox in Telemetry Setup window)
