View Full Version : headlight refurb help????
could anybody tell me the best possibe product for cleaning the inside of j spec headlights? ive done it once using some t-cut scratch remover and some brasso which was suggested to me??? neither of which really made any difference. am i using the wrong products or do i need a little bit more elbow grease?!
Also while im here whats the opinion of spraying the inside black as my car is black anyway?
cheers guys
I used brasso pads with a LOT of elbow grease and it came up very well. I spent about 5 minutes on every 3 square inches of plastic, inside and out, rubbing quite hard. It does work.
Havent painted mine but it has been done many times. Just get a high temperature paint. You can get it out more motor factors.
It might be easier looking here. This guy refurbs them for a good price which could save you a lot of hassle!

thanks very much, ill give it another go with a little bit more elbow grease! failing that ill leave it to the professionals!
I have sprayed the inside of mine black and left the chrome rings around the lamps - looks fantastic ! I would do it for sure - the silver coating becomes 'old looking'.
As for buffing up - are you sure its the inside that needs doing? you may find that its the sun reacting on the top of the lens (as mine does) that is causing the yellow shimmer.
You will need some G3 rubbing compound from the spares shop and also a buffer - dont mess about doing it by hand because you will just get frustrated and fed up... :) and dont try to use T-cut because it is not harsh enough - G3 - then polish
they will come up like glass :)
also plastic polish will work well
