Why is it that I'm bored with my Supra?

I can't really put my finger on why but I'm kind of unmoved by my Supra lately.

I don't really have any desire to add anything to it's looks. It's a daily driver and would be hindered by a kit or have some lovely wheels ruined. It looks nice enough.

It's quick enough for a daily driver too. The daily commute is too busy to even think of getting a bit of speed up. In fact, out of a twenty mile drive (each way) there is only about 2 miles where I can get any kind of speed up and even then it's in an area that gets really muddy and hazardous.

Despite all that, I'm just not enjoying the car and don't really know why.

Any suggestions?

Yeh take a drive in another car as a daily driver and you'll soon realise how good the supra is. The grass isnt always greener on the other side. Despite the money you spend in making the supra your daily driver do you not feel much better than everyone else out driving boring stock looking cars? Every other car is a BMW or a diesel. Wheras what you drive is a one off in comparison, hardly any about! You are special!

I am in the same position, mines a daily driver. i drove my mums 20K Audi A3 the other day and i tell you its not a patch on the supe! Its a nice car but there's no comparison for me! I can only think what driving an utter dog of a car around can be like! If a 20K audi cant cut it with my supe then what can!? Maybe an m3 or something lol. I guarantee youll not beat the supra for the money they are available for!

It is simply that you have become used to the Supe, no more no less. You have become accustomed to it, its like a drug, you want a little bit more to give yourself a buzz. Go cold turkey, buy yourself a shed to drive around during the winter months, wrap up your Supe and get back into her in the spring :)

We can't afford a second car and also have no room for another on the drive.

take a day off clean her up early ,fill up and go find some good roads to let it show you what its got.

alternatively go and buy something for twice as much to get the same power which will cost more to run and repair.

its human nature to get itchy feet. im the same just remind yourself of the facts . 0-60 sub 5 sec 175+ mph low 13 sec 1/4 mile with toyota reliability. convinsed yet?

change your wife girlfreind instead :p

I had exactly the same problem with my 911 at the end of last year. For some reason it became "just a car" - didn't really feel any different to me than my daily driver ford focus. Plus - it was more likely to break, and it cost a lot more when it did.

I actually reached the point where I advertised it for sale at the start of this year - and it did sell on ebay. But - it sold to somebody who's eyes were bigger than their bank account so the sale fell through.

I don't know why, but as spring / summer came my feelings changed. I don't know if it was because the days were longer or what. I got the car serviced - which cost a fortune since it needed a clutch - but that didn't bother me.

Now, I'm glad I kept it. I took it for a blast just over a week ago and it was astoundingly good.

I'd say give it time. You're just going through a phase. It might take a while - maybe even the winter - but it will pass, and then you'll be glad you kept it!

Cant afford another car.....hmmm, tricky, but I have a solution.

Ensure all DVDs / porn / beer / remotes are within a two-foot radius of your favorite chair.

Refresh your knowledge of your contract of employment, especially the sickness and injury section. If it seems reasonable, progress to the next step....

Enter the lounge, leaving the door open at an angle of 45 degrees as you do so.

Step three large paces back from the door and take a deep breath. As if you were taking a penalty, kick an imaginary ball so that your tibia shatters as your leg makes contact with the edge of the door. Six weeks should just about do it.

.......alternatively if you can't face DIY'ing it, take a picture of the misses's arse as she's bent over post it on here "accidentally" show it to her and she'll do the rest........

.....PS Ewen get well soon............

:D oh yeah, forgot to add to that post...I got away lightly, her threat of posting dodgy photos of me has been suspended pending a weekend in London. Shes hitting me where it hurts me most.

Oops, almost a hi-jack. Back on topic...

I cant get my head round the idea of being bored with the Supra. I feel like Ive only just bought her even after just washing her and hoovering her insides. Altogether a sad thread.

buy a shitter diesel and run it through the winter and you will easily save the cost of the car in fuel bills alone. Leave it out on the road or wherever you have space and it wont matter as it would be dirt cheap.

THink how much fuel you throw in to the supra, and if you are using Super Unleaded then the savings can be even bigger. Pretty easy to justify a second car.
