SteveR

Anything but the 8th. Ideally the 9th, as Kate will be visiting.

SteveR
19-11-06, 14:00
As it stands, 100% of voters (8 in total) can make it on Saturday 9th, what do we need to do now then chaps? :)

Ian R I sent you a text the other day saying I'd probably drive to this in my Scorpio and could give you a lift if you weren't fussed about taking your Supe and wanted a beer - not sure if you got it though mate?

Ian R
19-11-06, 20:34
Yep Saturday 9th it is then. Just need to look in the url for the mailbox and decide where we want to go for some nosh. What are you suggestions.

Ian R
19-11-06, 20:36

I've never been to the mailbox or any of it's restaurants so I'm open to suggestions from others... :)

Pete
20-11-06, 21:14
Depends how many people there are really. http://www.mailboxlife.com//cmpage.aspx?section=RestaurantsBars

Places I've been to:
There's Shogun - Tepan Yaki (spelling?) Japanese round the table where they cook in front of you. Always fun.
There's a spanish Tapas bar Estilo, nice but not so good for a full meal?
An Italian Don Salvo (service was shite last time, food ok)
Red Peppers is a really really nice Mediterranean restaurant.
Zizzi does great pizzas and pasta.
Piano champagne bar...no food, lots of shampoo though :D

SteveR
20-11-06, 21:17
You get around a bit don't you Pete ;)

Ian R
25-11-06, 13:57

Good work guys, should have my car back by then too ;)

Right, Mailbox is a fantastic choice. I often go there. I recommend we stop off for one at Bar Room Bar/Bar Epernay and perhaps eat at Penny Blacks? It's a very nice restaurant with typical english dishes cooked in a old Victorian style. Great food, great ratings.

Good choice with Red Peppers too Pete. Lovely setup there.

Recommend satying at the MalMaison if anyone is thinking of staying in Brum the night. Best hotel I've stayed in around Brum although quite pricey.

I'm game for anything though. Would be good to see you all again. :)

Cheers,

Greg

(Although I'm surprised you can still afford to go out after all the work you've needed on the Supe! Lord knows I'm skint :()

For cheap lodgings there's always nitenite.co.uk which is fifty quid. It's basically a box with a bed, massive plasma screen and a wet room. Ultra modern and very bizarre!

I think we need to finalise numbers for food and book then. Not tried Penny Blacks, if it's typical English then it should cater for everyones tastes?

I agree totally. I much prefer proper Greek food myself. :D
Just have to consider the masses when arranging something like this. Like Ian says, Burna is a meat and two veg kinda bloke. ;)

Sooo there will be only 10 of us? :search:
And why the hell Jap meeting must to be at same time like Christmass dinner? I would say we can meet in Jap cars anytime a year, but Christmass dinner is only once a year! Common guys and girls!

MARTIN R

Sheefa
04-12-06, 20:49
Yeah I haven't heard from Burna or Steve much.

Burna must be getting pissed early for christmas and I imagine Steve has now turned his car into a jet fighter - it was bloody loud when I heard it last.

Good choice with the accomodation Pete - never stayed there but looks good.

Or, we could all have a party at mine! :)

SteveR
04-12-06, 21:33
Right then Mr Ian, what;'s the score with this; when & where are we meeting & where are we going? lol :)

P.S. When you think of the answer to that question, it may be worth me mentioning that you're still more than welcome to a lift but I need to swing by Ibrar's place (East Brum area) to pick up my wheels from him, and he shuts at 5; so don't make it too late else we'll have a lot of time to kill! ;)

konio-nt
04-12-06, 22:08
I would be also interested where and when we will meet, cuz i will be picking up my missus Aerotop from Cambridge area at Saturday, so need to have time to get there by National Express and get back :p Also I have absolutely no idea about Birmingham at all so i will need some kind of navigation :p

MARTIN R
05-12-06, 11:13
Come on whats happening Ian:) , give me a call mate

Nicholas
06-12-06, 00:08
it seems we have a meet on the same day :)

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=90519

I'd be up for a trip to bham, will have to check with the rest tho.

Nick.

Sheefa
06-12-06, 10:31
Looks like my car may not be back by Sat guys as other circumstances have come into play.

If you're heading up though, please do give me a shout, dopr me a text on 07973865154 as I'd love to hook up for a few bevvies still.

Cheers,

Greg

06-12-06, 17:14
Doesn't look if I can do this lads. Every trip to Brum usually costs me a small fortune due to my severe lack of self control, the funds just aren't there at the moment to cope with that :( Was looking forward to trying the Shogun too. Sorry :(

Sheefa
06-12-06, 17:27
Ah Burna!!! Letting the side down. There's me on a Gumball, crashed but carried on and finished, and here's you not willing to burn that £60 quid in your sky rocket!

I'll be having words next time I see you mate ;)

Try and make it bud. Would be good to have a catch up. Will buy you a beer, or two, or a double tequila and coke which I most certainly will be drinking all night - NOT driving of course! ;)

Greg

Burna
06-12-06, 17:36
£60! More like £120+ everytime I go

Hoping to catch up with most of you over xmas for a little afternoon drink :)

SteveR
06-12-06, 18:00
Burna don't be gay, make yourself drive to the meet then you can't drink and spend millions ;)

If you don't come I'll

Greg - where do you live mate? If you're struggling for transport there is plenty of room in the Scorpio for another one if you're not a million miles off my route! :)

Iaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! :D What's happening? :p

Pete
06-12-06, 19:30
What's happening? :p

I suspect nothing seeing as it's three days away and nowhere is booked.

Can I suggest a plan 'B' that could involve a decent pub grub venue somewhere slightly out of the way but still central for most and has availability? I don't know of anywhere that way on though.

Nicholas
06-12-06, 19:32

Stop being such a girl. Just take £60 out of the bank and leave your cashcard at home. I'm going in the Galaxy so i can pick you and Jo up if you want.

Sheefa
06-12-06, 21:46
Steve R - that would be great buddy!! If you're cool with that. I live in Solihull, Knowle Town Centre, but could get to brum or solihull town if that's easier.

Hopefully I'l have the car back on sat day mate, but if not, I can meet you there or hitch a lift if not too inconvenient bud ;) My number is 07973865154.

Burna - come on mate, even if it's just for a few! I'm skintos but am thinking it's deffo worth another meet before the new year! The first didn't go brilliantly!

Pete - no idea where else we can go mate. Do you mean Birmingham town still, or towads Warwick, Stratford, Leamington or something?

Greg

SteveR

No probs dude, I need to go to Ibrar's (Pro-Alloys) and pick up my wheels which is only a few mins from Solihul I think. :)

Assuming this is stil going ahead in some shape or form (pub grub is fine with me, and means Burna will HAVE to come out as it'll not be £££s :p) PM me your address and we'll sort it out. :)

Would we need to book Peppers or whatever resturant or could we justy turn up on the night, say 6~7ish and keep our fingers crossed? Is there anything else nearby or would we be stuffed if they were fully booked?

Shall we just book something lol?
I'm still up for it if everyone else is? It would be good to get together one last time before the end of the year.

Pete
06-12-06, 22:34

Greg

Preferably closer to West Brom, Oldbury, Halesowen sort of places? The places you mention would make it too far for Vicki to want to drive back.

DEFINITELY need to book and I imagine we're too late.

I'm not too familiar with the wider Brum area locations but if I'm giving Greg a lift from Solihul I'd rather not go a billion miles from there as I live nearer to M5 J7 and obviously will need to drop him off home before heading back myself. :)

SteveR

Sorry Nick, didn't know you wanted a reply, you said you were going to check with the others on that trip out and get back to this thead?

Not sure it's going ahead now anyway :(

Hope your meet goes well regardless, I'd come out for a play but I've only got 2 wheels on mine at the moment lol :)

I love Wing Wah :) but only on a week night, gets rough on a Saturday and too busy to have a drink after :(

Got a few suggestions though to help:

Boycott Arms http://travel.ciao.co.uk/The_Boycott_Arms_Upper_Ludstone_Claverley_Wolverhampton__6347714

Hundred House http://www.hundredhouse.co.uk/

Food costs a bit more but very popular place. No chance of us booking that then

The Chateau Impney Hotel http://www.chateau-impney.com/

Apparantly the do a carvary at £20 per head but haven't checked myself yet.

The Crown at Hallow http://www.surfworcester.co.uk/Crown.html

Great pub with very nice food (S7EVE has tried the food and if he likes it it must be good!) Went there summer to check it out and liked the place a lot.

Can't think of anymore at the moment :)

Pete

Burna
07-12-06, 11:17
Ok another one:

The Running Horse http://www.pub-explorer.com/worcs/pub/runninghorselongbank.htm

Just checked to see if they were booked and they don't take bookings for after 7pm so just turn up and wait :) Nice big place with good food at good prices too :)

This sounds like a good one to me.

Greg, chuck me a couple of quid for petrol and I'll be your chauffer for the night ;) There and back - if you still want to come along?? :)

We might be there a tad early though as I will stil have to be at Ibrar's before he shuts at 5 lol :D Alternatively I suppost Kate can be pursuaded to 'lose' an hour or so at the Bull Ring before we pick you up - drop me a PM and we'll sort details bud :)

Hi guys,

Sounds good to me. It's up to you Steve budy - if it's not too far out of your way, that would be great and of course I'll pay for the petrol! Who knows, I might have my car back Sat morning ;)

My postcode is B93 0PT Steve - but greenflag shows the Running Horse being about 50mins drive from mine! Want me to meet you in the Bull Ring or something bud?

Let me know pal. :)

Thanks again.

Oh yes.
We all learned that cats only have two legs (and two arms), but dogs have four legs because they're stupid. They don't have hands though because that would be ridiculous - they have paws.
He also reiterated that horses have claws which they sharpen and are very scary.

I wouldn't take any animals of mine to Vet Bernard.

I was really impressed with the place. It was so busy and yet they still managed to make some really excellent food presentation and it tasted great too. Good service. Definitely a future venue I reckon.

Shame that out of 7 Supra owners only two of us brought Supras :rlol:
It was too dark and miserable to stand outside anyway.

As Pete said great place and we will have to eat and drink there again. I'm still confused why they had reserved us a table

By the way Pete I blame you for starting us all on a Staropramen lager binge :innocent: Just next time can we please stop S7EVE from trying to order pints of "Strap-a-man-on"! :rlol: Pissed up fool :rlol:
