If you were going on a driving holiday . . .

I took my Supe thru France, up some ridiculously unsuitable tiny roads into the Pyranees to Andorra, back via Spain then back up to Luxumbourg and Belgium and back to the UK a couple of years ago. Nearly 3000 miles I think.

If it's spectacular scenery you want, then head for the Alps I would have thought, take in a bit of autobahn too for the hell of it.

I've done two of these in the last couple of years. I love it!

We only ever book the boat/tunnel and then wing it from there. Don't like having to keep to a schedule as we always find somewhere we like but had never thought of staying in and then stay there for a couple of days.

Angie and me did the Pyrenees this year and the Alps 2 years ago. Personally I recommend the Alps for spectacular scenery. They Pyrenees are beautiful too, but the Alps just have the edge for me. Great for getting good pics! When we did the Alps, we ended up just outside Monte Carlo for 3 nights. That was fun!

A fantastic experience and I'd recommend doing something like this at least once in your life.

It was your pics I saw that got me thinking again! I wondered if to do a cannon runn or something - but then thought it would be great to do the road trip instead maybe.

Alps sounds good to me - although there may be a web site somewhere with some amazing road trips marked out. . . . . hmmm . . . .

how long were you away on your trips? - Both of you?

Work out the fuel expenses and route before you go. It can get SERIOUSLY expensive. I did south of France, through to Italy, Mont Blanc and back up last year. Used about 300 quid of fuel IIRC, plus hotels etc the whole trip was well over £1000 for both of us for a week.

About 2 weeks is enough.

This year we used a Tom Tom Go Sat Nav unit which is a Godsend! Being able to select "Avoid Toll Roads" takes you through some beautiful countryside and villages etc. It also means that when you arrive in a town later than you planned, you can find hotels/restaurants easier!

I don't think we did much more and 200 miles most days. Usually about 130 to 150 with a day or two at the start and end of the holiday where we did maybe 250 to 300.

There's something about discovering places by yourself.

Oh - and go and see the Millau Viaduct - it's awesome!

If you wanted to go on a real amazing road trip in your Supra - across to Europe and around some spectacular scenery etc.. then looping back to England - where would you go :search:

I want to do this one day soon - need to get thinking head on

any ideas?

Through France to Bassel in Switzerland, over the Alps to Como, then through Italy and down the coast of Lake Garda. After that I dunno :D :d
