Pipe bending question

Sorry for the weird question....I am slowly building up the parts for my single install and have seen a nice downpipe that will mate up with my cast manifold! See here for my target setup

My question is...can the already made up pipe be slightly bent or modified by a pipe specialist, I can get the downpipe setup shown from inductionmotorsport.com but need to know if I can slightly change angles etc to fit, I know its going to be a pretty much custom job all the way through

I am using one of Arnouts cast manifolds as well just for the record

Dunno, but if you have one of Arnout's manifolds (which I guess you do if you are needing to modify that DP) have you tried asking him for one of his pipework kits? They consist of a downpipe exactly like that one and pipe that goes between the manifold and wastegate. That's what I've got - Arnout sold me one of his prototypes. He said at the time that it might need a slight weld because some of them weren't a perfect fit but mine fitted spot on with no work.

The other thing to remember about Arnout's DP and the one you've pictured is that they mate up with the stock 1st cat/decat goes and they have a UK/USA flange on, not a Jspec one. So you will need a UK spec 1st decat pipe too. I had a lot of trouble finding a 3inch one, but found one eventually in the USA from Random Technology. It was beautifully made and had a flex section.

If you ask arnout if he has pipe kits please tell me the outcome. I just bought one of this cast manifolds too and I'm currently searching for downpipe and stuff too.

I was not aware there was a piping kit to go with his manifold, will try to contact him, and thanks for the advice on the UK spec pipe, will look into that as well

I can get a pipe made, the one in the pic will give trouble, you need a flexi joint in the wastegate pipe to absorb expansion with the heat. Like all custom work this sort of stuff is expensive and you will need, at some stage, to take the car to the benders to have it all set up properly before final welding.

Get one like Simons, that's spot on, except I'd take the wastegate pressure feed from much nearer the plenum, the turbo outlet is a bit turbulent. But it's a nice set up, hot pipework wise. Not heard from Arnout lately, myself.

I was thinking the same thing, great setup!!

What turbo are you using mate?

I think I will go new ways and get one of the new Borg Warner S Series things in my car.

it certainly wont be any bigger than a 61, any thing over and above this is way to powerful for what im after + I would like to retain a little reliability as well...maybe even the slightly smaller gt35r turbo, not entirely sure yet, my main concerns are if to do it on the auto or not, I will definatly not do it on the auto without a higher stall speed, the lag would be horendous

The pipe kit was a prototype from Arnout when he was producing his cast manifolds acording to Simon, im not sure how many he made but will need to get hold of him somehow either through supraforums or from the dutch site

includes downpipe, wastegate adapter with flexi-section...adapter to plum exit of gate back into downpipe....basically exactly the same as simons

you may as well customise the whole wastegate setup then.....any reason why you want to do this? are you venting to atmosphere??

Arnout's pipework ends in a flange that meets up with a standard UK spec 1st cat/decat. So you need a 3 inch 1st decat pipe, I got mine from Horsepowerfreaks in the USA, here's the link:

It was a beautifully made thing, also had a flexi joint as I said. There's a fitting kit too which has the gaskets and nuts & bolts in.

When I bought my pipework off Arnout the WG flange was for an HKS 50mm wastegate with the rectangular flange. This is the older style (the new ones have a square flange) and I don't think HKS make them any more. I managed to get hold of one so mine fitted straight on, but depending on your wastegate you might have to use an adaptor or get a new flange welded on. I think HKS make a rectangular to square adaptor plate. The Ebay wastegates use the rectangular flange too I think so you'd be ok with one of those, but I don't trust the quality of them. Arnout might have changed his pipes by now to the square flange now too I guess.
