Toyboy
Will an HPI check find if the car has been clocked ? Found this 93 TT with 56k on the clock, good nick, but you never know..It has a recent HPI Cert.
Class One
If is an import probably not. If it's been in the UK for a few years then maybe, or check the mots back to the first one. 56k in 13 years, almost too good to be true don't you think? Ian W
yup. try and get a BIMTA (sp?) certificate which will state mileage when imported and then work from available service documentation and MOTs.
cleland
Only if someone has done a search before and supplied mileage info, where hpi pick it up. We hpi about 15 cars aweek and 80% have no info on mileage.
Guest Rash
difficult to trace on imports but on a uk car you can carry out out a NMR (National Mileage Register) check and it finds out by previous hpi's carried out as well as checking with DVLA - People tend to write mileage on V5's when they sell them so a record goes to DVLA - but ONLY if the mileage has been stated on the V5 - if not then it relies on previous mileages from old Hpi's.... supRo
As stated above - I would be extra weary of 'Low mileage' imports as when I last did a HPI via the RAC they said they can't give an indication of the milage on Imports. With UK cars they can but it's an estimate - not sure what it's based on, perhaps MOT's. I my experience all the Low Milers that I looked at (about 5) when looking to buy my Supra had signs of being clocked.
imi
Unless the seller cant prove the mileage, you should assume that its clocked and completely negate the perceived "advantage" of the said mileage.

garethr
As said above, if it's an import BIMTA should be able to tell you the mileage when it was auctioned in Japan. Isn't that supposed to be pretty reliable? http://www.bimta.org/MileageChecks.asp

Toyboy
the rear lights look weird You mean the reverse lights in the 'UK' position? I think someone swapped them around, as this in an Import.

Because unless you are willing to spend between 11k and 11.5k then you ar going to be dissapointed.
