Does anyone know of any companies that sell carbon fibre?

Not the pre-resin waver thin sheets, but the proper weave as I want to have a crack and fabricating some items but everywhere just has the pre-fabbed stuff

only place I found was in the states, there must be someone in the UK?

cheers,

Hob

I have been making an airbox out of fiber glass and when finished I would like to get it copied in carbon fiber.

Does anyone know of a company i could send it to have copied?

Mate,

Nic does a service where you send a dash board part and gets it coverd in CF - Maybe worth contacting him?

Twill's the one you want:) :) Really shows off the weave. Have a check on ebay - there's often some on there in a variety of sizes for sale.

BTW - I assume you realise that it won't have either the strength or lightness of the real CF? It's just glorified GRP if you're doing it at home - the real stuff uses a fancy process of vacuum/pressure to remove as much of the resin as possile thus making it nice and light etc. :)

Or try these guys :) http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS_Catalogue__Carbon_Fibre_Fabric_35.html

Hmm I was going to do a test pice, people in the states use a vacum cleaner and bag to add pressure to the mould, cant see how you would add pressure (other than vacum) to a mould any other way?

Can't see a hoover being able to apply enough vacuum to make a real difference.

Yea obviously you would need a beefcake compressor, some actually use fridge compressors, but other than that is there anything else you would need?

I suggest you check out this company:-

You need to decide what weight and resin content of the CFRP you require. It's not a particularly easy process to master from the off, but it's not particularly difficult to get reasonable results pretty soon either.

Cool, tah :)

tis going to be engine stuff, so mainly out of sight have a few tries on the tv remote first ;)
