Power Limit of the 5-speed box

A T5 with Glebe dog box, straight cut internals would be OK, but horrible as a road gearbox. That's the box I intend to bung in my RWD Skyline. As standard it wouldn't be up to it, in theory. A Corvette box would be OK, if you made a bellhousing adaptor, prop, clutch and release package, rear mount, gear lever, blah blah. None even come close, cost wise, to a simple swap to a TT Supra gearbox, clutch and stuff.

I think the 6-speed is looking more likely, only problem is sourcing one, there very hard to get hold off, I had an opportunity to purchase one at a good price but money as always is the limiting factor at the moment!!

The R154 is a good bit stronger than the W58 from what I've read. Checkout US Supra forums for more info on this and the conversion kit boostlogic offer to fit this box.

IIRC the W58 is marginal above 350lb/ft torque - depends what kinda abuse you give it. The R154 is apparently good for 500lb/ft torque.

Cheers,

Brian.
