Bob
What would people recommend for clean, accurate cuts in carbon fibre roughly 1.5mm - 2mm thick? I bought a cheap CF coil pack cover from ebay - 1st one turned up mangled, 2nd one is okay(ish) but doesn't fit at the front as the CF is 'buckled' in. I was going to cut the front bit away so you can see the cam pulleys

colsoop
A sharp stanley Knife should do it.
uk-rich
its a real bastard to cut, i had to use tin snips. but you will struggle to get a "perfect finish" on the cut
Bob
Hmmm, I wonder if it's worth investing in one of those 'roto-zip' type things?
Kranz
Dremel will do it with a ceramic edged cutting blade such as aluminium oxide. Will cut it nice & clean too. You can get these Dremel type tools (cheap versions) most places for about £20 or less, including at Agros.
uk-rich
i tried a dremmel, but with the serated steel blade, it lasted about 5 seconds !
Chris Wilson
You need a diamond cut off wheel in an air die grinder. Not as expensive / exotic as it sounds, cheap cut off wheels are OK for the amount of work involved in your project. Rotational speed is what you need. supRo
Is it the Pre-preg/Gelled stuff or the non gelled CF? I bought CF in a roll, non gelled and used a Stanley Knife. There's a member on here who works with CF for a living. Can't remember his user name but he worked on the new world record holding fastest Diesel vehicle, powered by twin JCB engines. Do a search and PM him
