looks simple, compact too, might get one myself to replace the DVD player, just RCA out from the player to RCA in on the screen, audio RCA out from player to stereo RCA in, the unit that you are using for sound, and thats it.

problem is, you have to use battery of the player, it runs on low voltage, I found this one runs on 12v

have you seen this one? its a little more expensive but fit right in the single DIN like a normal radio, I think I prefer this than having to plug in and out wireshttp://cgi.ebay.ie/CAR-80gb-HARD-DISK-DRIVE-HDD-DVD-DIVX-MP4-3-USB-player_W0QQitemZ200022554738QQihZ010QQcategoryZ67772QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

still not sure it would like the 12V from a car! the cheaper ones run on 5V.

I have an in-car to usb power adaptor so i will try that if not i'll purchase another adaptor.

as for the unit which installs into a DIN slot... wouldnt touch it with a barge poll! Ive purchase complicated headunits with all the bells and whistles like this before and they fail :(.
