Hope you guys don't mind if i top this thread, saves making a new one.

I'm after a decent garage in Essex too, have taken Redline's details and will give them a call as they're not too far away from me. Don't fancy going to TDI really, too expensive and they've fed me crap before. My speedo conversion is going haywire and it's effecting my power steering. I've also had that strange noise come back from the nearside rear wheel. Car sounds a little 'tappety' on startup too.

Who do you use?

Is it that scraping sound, wasn't it your disc stone guard/backing plate?

You sure your pads are ok, the pad wear warning shim can start marking noises when there's quite a bit of meat left on them.

I took it to Elite and they originally said it was the backing plate yes, however the sound has come back and now only happens when the weight of the car shifts to the left (ie making a right turn) and when I go over bumps. Sounds like it's all falling apart :(

I'm going to get the pads replaced to eliminate that problem.

Could be a wheel bearing, think that's the side that's most common to go N/S/R. Do you get any rumbling sort wheels out of balance noises when driving at reasonable speed? Not sure what classic symptoms on Supe are cos i haven't had any of mine go yet.

Try jacking up that corner and seeing if you can rock the wheel/hub assembly with your hands at 12 and 6'o'clock positions.
