Jarret, Whats the optimal safe area of boost for a stage one turbo.

I run 1.4bar max with a MAP ECU but I'm restricted by my fueling to go any further (so my tuner told me).

Can that turbo run say 1.6bar as a maximum without it becoming un-efficient . I have stock fuel lines with 1 walbro pump, FPR and Power Enterprise 650cc injectors.

What do i need to change with my fueling setup to get the most from the turbo.

The Stage 1, 60mm turbo, can run up to 2.0 BAR at the peak of its efficiency range. It makes ridiculous torque at that level however, and requires a ton of fueling.

You need a second pump and second fuel line, or twin pumps and a single -8An fuel line. Either way, a single Walbro is only good to about 520 WHP, which your already there at 1.4 BAR.

I can put together the parts you require or you can have the local shop do it. Email me if you need prices or info.

Thanks!

On what fuel safely though?

At anywhere near that boost we're running 116 octane fuel. On your standard (our 93) fuel, I think 1.2 is about the most you can safely run.

Thanks for the reply jarret, my fueling is something that i intend to sort out during the comming winter months when i take the car off the road. i may be in touch for prices/options etc

We now have 99 octane fuel over here, what does that equate to over in the US?

Thats equivalent to our 93-94 octane, so your fine running 1.3 BAR on that with the Stage 1.

So i take it for me to be running 1.5-1.6bar then i will need some type of octane booster? aswell as the fueling mods.

Uh, yeah, you dont need octane booster. You need higher octane fuel, a fuel system, and/or turn the boost down! What are your Air/Fuels?

Cant get higher octane fuel from pumps over here.

Obviously the fuel system needs doing, but other than that im stuck with 99 octane (UK)

AFR's are High 10's on full boost (1.4bar)

This is interesting (I bought a stage 1 kit from you about 5 years ago and still going great!) I am boosting up to 1.65 bar with 103RON fuel with afr's in the mid 11's. Never found much gain above 1.5bar and seems to run out of puff above 6000rpm. Do PHR sell a turbo that will give me the spool similar to the 60 but a little wider powerband (my rev limit is 7250rpm) Was thinking of trying a BL67 dbb.

there stage 2+ is based on a 67mm turbo, thats what i have, i get no "tail off" at higher revs at all

Good to hear! We dont really experience any real big drops in HP above 6000 RPM, that turbo generally has a broad flat torque curve. But our GT67 (Stage 2+) has similar spool up and alot more HP up top.

You're on stock cams aren't you Charlie?

No, 264s in and out.
Is there a turbo in between mine (stage 1) and the T67?
Really happy with everything up to around 6K,HUGE torque but no top end.

GT62 which is the stage 2. I've been considering downsizing to a 62/63 sized turbo

Right, the Stage 2 turbo (62mm) is between them. But the 67 spools up the same as the 62, only makes a bunch more top end HP. If your looking for top end HP with 264 cams, do the 67 in my opinion.

Thanks

Cool, looks like I'm heading for the 67 then. So who buys the 62 if it spools the same as a 67? (I always assumed top end was a trade off for lag)

90% of the kits we sell are 60mm and 67mm turbos... people who drive the cars on the street and want good response and torque..
