charlton Posted August 31, 2006 Share Posted August 31, 2006 The time has come to replace ALL FOUR tyres on my Supe which will not make my bank balance look any better I'm looking at getting some winter (handles well in snow and wet etc) Goodyear Eagle's all round which will set me back £580.80. If I were to get some "top quality" Centurio summer tyres (hanldes well in wet but not so good in snow) for £312.64 would these be okay for winter driving? Obviously the cheaper tyres are looking more tempting but does anyone have any thoughts/experience with not so well known brands as this will be my first winter in the Supe Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I tend to drive 'reasonably' i.e. not Miss Daisy style but not giving it the full beans all the time either. Cheap tyres are cheap for a reason. Most members swear by Goodyear F1s. If you can't get them, then buy the best that you can afford. Try mytyres.co.uk for cheap tyres. Sometimes my front bumper and exhaust are in contact with the road 3 were slashed within a week! bastards, I dont understand people who do that unless they have a valid reason (which there isn't many!!) Sure the goodyear eagle F1's are better but there's not a huge difference IMO. It's very likely that when I next need new tyres I'll be buying some new alloys with Falkens all round. These are high power RWD cars... you need everything you can get to keep it stuck to the road, BUY DECENT RUBBER. I put cheap Centurio tyres on my Peugeot 106 Rallye because the garage didn't have P6000's in stock and I hate mixing tyres..After going into a 4 wheel slide across a roadabout, I took them straight off.. I've used Falken's before and there is nothing wrong with them, used them on 5 series BMW, and they are very nice, maybe a bit on the soft side so you wear them out, but definitely worth considering as a 'budget' type tyre..... Just remember as Class one said, those four rubber bands on your car only impart about a hands width worth of pressure on the road and they are ALL that holds on in control...
