I've received my new aerial mast today, before i attack it this afternoon does anyone have any tips on how to change it, as it looks a right mare! Currently mine is stuck up, so how do i even go about pulling the old one down to get it out the hole, or is my logic wrong straight away

Cheers,

Handy tip for replacing it - when i did mine, I used one of those jump-starting kits and a couple of bits of wire to apply a 12v feed to the motor while it was off the car - depending which pin you treat as earth, the motor will either expell or retract the aerial.bThat way you can have everything sorted and checked ready for refitting :)

Hi

just a reminder that you might hav to open the motor if the broken bits are inside ie the plastic drive; if it snapped bits might be still in there. This is not hard to do btw even I did it. Just feed it in and get someone to turn on radio for you.

Hi Pete, all i have got is the mast and the plastic thingy with the little teeth on it that goes inside the mast.

The silver top bit is the bit on the outside of the wing yes? Is it obvious where to feed the new long plastic teeth thingy :)

When you've removed the old one, you just feed the plastic wire bit into the hole whilst your assistant turns off the stereo. The cogs inside will keep retracting and should catch the bottom of your plastic. You just need to make sure it feeds in nice and straight then reattach the silver ring. It takes some practice.

That's true! try to compare the lengths of the old and new plastic. You don't want the old bits stuck in there.

well the job is all done, why didnt you guys tell me it was so easy! :) There were several mashed up bits of plastic in the unit, so got all them out. Car looks so much better with the aeriel down!

So i stood back with my bro, who helped me do it, and said wicked, nice one mate, then got stung on my arm by a wasp! little c*nt! He fell to the floor so i took great delight smashing the little bugger with a hammer :D

Thanks for your advice lads
