Just got to say WOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!! and a HUGE thank you to both Paul and Daz for the amazing work you guys have done with my recon engine and single turbo setup + the new shiny FMIC, all the engine polishing and my tasy new Tein strut braces (stops for breath!!).

It is amazingly responsive and the pull is sooo addictive! now looking even more for excuses to drive it and hear that beautiful BOV / wastegate chatter and feel the kick and damn near instant pickup from the tubbie!! ;) :d

It starts spooling at 3,000RPM and it just pulls and pulls and pulls!!!!!! :d

The finish under my temporary bonnet (cheers for the loan Steve L!) is real craftmanship stuff and hopefully Steve will stick that piccie up on here at some point this morning for all to see!

I'll be popping the bonnet at EVERY opportunity now and showing it to the world (think the'll hear me coming first though!!) and the new FMIC looks GORGEOUS and for the price it's awesome!

I won't go on about it too much and let people decide for themselves at the Japshow on the 8th October but from my perspective, thank you both sooo much! Can't imagine going back to the hybrids now!!!! Value for money - spot on! Quality of work - excellent! WOW factor - off any scale!!!!!!!!! :d

thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the best and make sure you get some rest on that Dorset holiday of yours as it'll be back for the Tein Super Street / EDFC setup when you're back!!!

Pete :)

This boy's been smiling constantly since we hit the A10 last night!
Paul and Daz have done themselves proud yet again....

Couple of pics below that we snapped last night, hopefully some better ones over the w/e.

Like Pete said above, this setup rocks and is very well suited for an auto. The passenger ride home was superb... unfortunately we picked up an Astra-plod at one point that spoilt the blasts.

Well done Pete - you stayed for the duration - told you it'd be worth it in the end

What has been fitted/upgraded?

And whats the cost? Been looking at single upgrades for a while now. :eyebrows:

Cheers Steve! :d :d :d

It has to be said NOTHING and I mean nothing has made me as happy as that EVER!!!!! ;) :d

The plod Astra was annoying but would have been even more so if you hadn't spotted it coming on the slip road as I believe we were somewhat above the speed limit at that stage!! ;) :d

I really am glad I stuck it out and went for this in the end as opposed to throwing in the towl and selling up!

Paul has worked a small miracle on this and the mapping work with just a blue e-manage is excellent! Think Paul worked some magic on this and tried something different to the norm and it's worked really well.

Pics look great but it's even more stunning in the flesh and will be a pleasure to clean as opposed to a chore!! :)

Saw it down there yesterday evening when we collected mine, looking good mate! :)

I know how you feel the wait is brutal especially when I was having to use the Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Auto ESTATE!!!!!! ;) :d

You'll get there though mate and then WOW!!!!!! :d

Cheers,

F.A.O - supra Lee
==============

Best bet is to e-mail or ring Paul Whiffin to discuss the spec in detail but in summary it's a Garrett GT35R turbo, XS Power manifold and downpipe with 50mm wastegate plus all the other pipes, lines etc! (Paul will hopefully explain/add to this when he can as his internet is down at the moment!).

Being a UK car I was able to get away with the 550cc injectors although they are maxed out at 1.5 bar and I could probably use a FPR to keep things in check.

Cost needs to be decided by Paul as well given my bill was inclusive of a low mileage engine + fitting but I can tell you for what it have given me the price is VERY competitive and exceptional value for money. I am well aware that reliability could be an issue as this isn't a mega bucks kit but I know Paul and Daz put it together perfectly and if it did go wrong they'd offer just as good a service putting it right for me and that's what sealed the deal for me.

Seriously, anyone interested in a single turbo conversion for a very competitive price get in touch with Paul. You won't be dissappointed! :eyebrows:

Cheers,

Pete

Cheers for the reply, sounds like your having a lot of fun in your supra :d

Have you had it rolling roaded yet?

Peter P
25-08-06, 14:45
Nope not yet as it only came together so to speak yesterday and I picked it up yesterday afternoon/evening.

Will be interested to see how it does but i'm not a big fan of rolling roads as they don't really simulate true driving conditions. Paul does all the mapping on the road which seems to work well and gives great results so it's not a big issue for me to be honest.

All I really know and care about is how it performs on the road and for that it seems superb!!!!! :eyebrows:

Will be fun to go head to head with some other single cars to see how it gets on so may well RWYB at the Japshow in October :d

The car looks spot on !
Were you running hybrids before the single was fitted ?
I have been in one single tubod soop and that was an N/A the sound was fantastic and it went really well.

Seeing as you have seen both sides of the possible modification route what is the difference really like when you put your foot down ?

Peter P
25-08-06, 17:02
Hey colsoop,

As you say i've now experienced both the stage 3 hybrids and now a relatively small single and it really is like chalk and cheese!!! the hybrids have nothing on the single in terms of putting your foot down and also the sound the single makes! The roar of the induction, the BOV and that wastegate chattering away are audible S E X !!!!!!!!!!! ;) :d

My exhaust is now spot on as well because the single has beefed it up enough when putting your foot down but retaining the quieter more acceptable noise when at low speed.

The engine bay also looks a million times neater without all the extra pipes and odds and sods you get with the twin setup.

If I was going for something from stock I'd save the extra and go single and to be honest it won't be that much more for this excellent Whifbitz budget conversion than a good hybrid spec would cost to buy new, fit and map!

I was quite fortunate though as the injectors are UK items so haven't needed larger ones or an FPR although these are on the next to-do list as they are maxed out at the 1.5 bar setting.

Paul will give more info i'm sure when he gets on his computer at home so he can hopefully give some guidance on costs etc but I was VERY impressed with the results for what I paid and would recommend this to anyone!!! :)

All the best and i'm now going home to play for 3 days solid! ;) :D

Cheers,

Pete :)

Hi mate,

Glad your a happy chappy after this visit!
I can safely say its the best single turbo'd auto Supra I've driven for everyday useability/response, thats what you get when you use the latest technology GT35R Garrett turbo perfectly chosen for your needs. The manifold/wastegate wasn't in fact an XS Power item, I get them from another source, similar but not the same, the quality is a little better than there stuff. Downpipe, air intake and all the oil/water feeds were custom made. It would be nice to get rid of that AFM at some point with a nice AEM ecu me thinks, 1. it will release a bit of power and 2. it'll look a lot tidier! I'm never happy with the way the AFM pipework looks....

On the whole though I'm very happy with the way yours has turned out, we tried a slightly smaller A/R to get it spooling up a bit quicker and its most definately worked a treat, spot I'd say for an auto with std tranny, much more than this and you'll need upgraded box, injectors, etc.
An FPR would definately be a good idea, should get a bit more out of your injectors that way, I'd advise this ASAP myself.
And of course the Tein Super Streets, a 4 wheel alignment, a new set of wheels, some Recaro's, etc, etc!

Hows that lovely shiny new Whifbitz front mount intercooler kit looking? Doing a rather splendid job I'd say. New product I've just started selling this guys by the way, £450 + VAT for a 100mm intercooler kit with polished pipes, bargain. Selling like hot cakes at the moment.

Like night and day, I dont think you can really compare hybrids with a nicely setup single, its a different car now. Watch out for that wheel spin in 1st and 2nd now Pete!

Hey Matt,

Really is a superb setup (was out earlier and found a nice tunnel to wake it up with a good stamp on the loud pedal! :d ).

Paul is as you probably know on a well deserved holiday but i'm sure he'll be along at some point with prices as this setup beats most for value and quality I'd say so it will be even more tempting I guarantee you!! :eyebrows: :d

If anyone wants to have a closer look at mine or go for a drive with me (spare undies are optiona!! ;) :d ) give me a shout and we can try to arrange something.

Cheers guys,

Pete :)

Your absolutely right Paul we need to get that rolling road day sorted ASAP as i'd be keen to see how mine does now!! :d

The FPR is a defo mate and will be done when your back from your holiday if possible?

Still loads to do but the bank manager needs to recover from the stroke he had when I told him how much I needed to pay this bill!!!! ;) :d

The FMIC does set it all off and looks the nuts in contrast to that crappy HKS Type S rubbish I had before and it seems to be coping really well and as you say for the price, it's a real bargain mate! :)

Thanks again and i'll see you and Daz when your back from your holiday!! :)

Cheers,

Hey Paul,

Long time no speak! :d

Car is still running beautifully and worried a crotch rocketeer the other day when it boosted faultlessly and left him for dead!! :d :d :d

Iro pics, can you not use one of the two engine bay shots on page 1 of this thread that Steve L took when we collected it? I am going to have a major cleaning session when I have time but haven't taken any pictures recently!

I am a bit tight for cash at the moment but when I can afford it i'll be in for the o2 and throttle sensor to try and sort that stalling issue if possible? Can you PM me the prices please m8 so I can get the funds organised!

Did the holiday help? I imagine it's been a bit manic since you got back??

Take care and all the best m8,

Pete :)

26-09-06, 15:32

Holiday was good yes, needed that! Its manic alright yes, loads of work to get through! Not complaining though.
