Removing Spoiler

OK

I've read a few threads about the whole, should I or shouldn't I argument regarding the removal of the stock spoiler so thought I'd see what it looked like without :)

However

One of only two bolts I could find to remove was attached to the support for the boot (which is very heavy!)

Are those the right bolts? cos when we removed them, the spoiler was still very firmly attached...

Yeah, there a four bolts hold the spoiler down, 2 on either side, and a "pull hard" clip in one... Scared the hell out of myself taking it off.

If you have taken supporting bolts off, you have the wrong bolts. There are 2 bolts on either side, that connect the bootlid struts, these are not the ones that you need to take off.

There are 4 more (2 either side) hidding under the black panel.

Good luck!

:D

EDIT: Have spoiler off of mine currently, but waiting to fit a carbon fibre one. So could organise some pics if you want... my car is silver...

Sh*t!!!

Took the spoiler off yesterday and three of the four bolts sheered in half!!!

Looks like I'm leaving it off for a little while then :)

We've used some rubber bungs to fill the holes. I really like the line of the Sup without the spoiler but it's left a real mess on the paint work.

Got any pics..? been considering this for a while but just spent £200 on touching up scrapes and scratches on mine, and was afraid doing this might cause some damage... but how much of a mess is it? T-cut??!

Due to the fact that we had yet another mental thunderstorm last night, I wasn't able to clean the gunk off the back but I did take this photo before the heavens opened.

Its mainly dirt and a bit of sticky stuff which seems to come off fairly easily - the main problem is the holes. You can see the rubber seals we used, two of them had a hole in the middle so we filled them with black silicone.

It's gorgeous from the front and awesome from the sides but I can't help agreeing that from the back it does look like somethings missing....

There's a really nice spoiler in NFS Most Wanted (think it's called the viper) which looked awesome on the Supra :) Follows the line of the back - low and subtle...

I removed my spoiler and had the same trouble with dirt underneath but that soon came off with T-Cut. I like the spoilerless look but it didn't look right with my kit, plus there are so many uses for the spoiler, check out the links below... :D
