not brand im asking about the wat thing 10w40 etc etc its for a firend.

Id go with 10w40 semi synth stuff.

Apparently the grade for a UK Starlet is 10W-30, but I daresay a 10W-40 or even a 5W-40 would be fine (the former just gives you slightly higher temp stability)..
Fully synth is best....
