Don't... unless the propshaft is disconnected or the driven wheels are off the ground.

Its because the oil pump in the gearbox isnt workign but yet the TC and box is turning.

In an emergency you can tow most autos a short distance as long as you keep the speed down to a minimum. Avoid doing it at all if possible though.

I have heard its a big dont. Dont know why, if it were a really short distance i would put it in N and go for it! (mine got towed home by pheonix when it blew up, only a few miles) if they did it, it must be ok for short distances.

A few miles at low speed should be fine, but not 30.. I wouldn't of thought.

Mr T also goes on to say exactly what Jake says in post #5 above. :)

I remember when someone crashed into our hire car in America, the recovery guy started the engine before towing it away. Makes sense now if there is an oil pump in there but not good if the engine has died.

You could always remove the propshaft if you've got to tow it any distance, its not that hard to unbolt it and sling it in the boot

Well I had mine towed yesterday after it stopped on me, towing eyes are located underneath the indicators towards the middle of the headlights.

Left it in N and crawled round to the garage which was approx half a mile away and will also get it towed from the garage to my home approx 2 miles this week.

Will keep the speed down and pray that it's ok when it's fixed. :(
