Some of you may remember i had a problem at JAE when the car wouldnt start but then miraclously fire up at other times well it had started to get embarassing with the clicky clicky sound at shops and garages and constantly worrying the thing would start so....

I started with the battery as it looked too small for the car with only 320 cranking amps so swapped for a 520 Amp.It worked fine for a few days till the same old 'clicky clicky' started again-Must be the starter so i ordered a starter motor overhaul kit from Dingles Toyota to have a go at a DIY recondition.Took a couple of hours to get the starter off, recon and replace.(the top bolt is a PITA to get out-only way is about a 1 and a half foot long socket extension with a universal joint to get above and down the side of the gearbox)

This is what i found..

had the option of a new starter £250,Secondhand recon £65 or reconning myself £15

How long it will last is another matter lol.

Now ive got cuts, bumps and bruisies and just hoping it works tommorow when its cold.
