Hopefully the new venue wont put people like Dr Doom and Rays the Roof from coming up, as its quite a bit further for the (further south that mascrat) peeps to come.

Dunno what the Doc will do, but it's a 100 mile round trip from where we live, and after a 200 mile round drive to and from work it's a bit far for me.
I missed the last couple at Mascrat cos I was too knackered to drive up. :(

It doesn't really matter when the Supra only one is! I'll not be returning to Mascrat though as I think they are a bunch of crunts and the Police really wind me up at the moment!!

I'll try my best to make this but like Kieran said, it's over 100miles round trip for us.. I'd probably be there later than 19.00 as well. unfortunately i always have meetings on Mondays so I’m not normally back home till gone 6pm.

I'm really gutted about mascrat but i have to agree with havard that the stunt they pulled last month was a real crunts trick, they don't deserve our custom and certainly won't be getting any money from me.. I did enjoy the meet though & hope that JNW move it to a bigger, better location :)

So, who's going then??

More inportantly who's going to try and cross my picket line.....:sly:

The meet at the Wiggin Tree may go back to another date. If there are a few who want to do both then it's only fair to change the date!

This may only be a one off until we find a better venue that is more central! How about Knutsford way, I'll have a look for any decent pubs round that neck of the woods!

I didnt go to the last meet and i dont know how bad it was apart from the pictures. But i guess i'm up for both. I look forward to the mascrat and its a good excuse to get a good few hours of nag free time.

;) I,ll have a look around one day, try and get as close to Masgrat as Possable to suit everybody ? maybe on the same road either into Warrington or the otherway into Irlam anybody who know,s that area ? ....or maybe the opposite side of the Thelwall viaduct off at that junction ?

But the Wiggin tree for next Monday or the charnley ( two for one meal same as Masgrat ?)

Right I'm sensing that a number of guys are still planning on going to Mascrat - beware, as I posted earlier in the Mascrat thread there are going to be some stringent controls on the Jap cars attending the meet certainly this month.

However in light of this I've added a poll to canvas opinion about when the Wiggin Tree meet should be. I was assuming all regulars would be boycotting Mascrat so chose the same date thinking that people have already made arrangements around this date, but if the membership want a different date then so be it.

I'm also thinking that this might be a good opportunity to permanently relocate the venue so will be posting a new topic shortly for you guys to pick a region.

I'm conscious that Ray, Linda, Hoff and Gnemie (plus others) have come up from southern locations, but I'm also conscious that the North West catchment area extends up to Cumbria so I'm going to try and balance the location to try and please the whole of the North West catchment area (who are interested). We've lost interest from some of the old Northern regulars Ian, Ian and Charlie possibly due to distance and it would be nice to get them back.

Fear not as this may mean we end up having two meets (plus the potential JapNorthWest) one south and one north - It may even be an idea to try and attract the Yorkshire guys and the NE guys as well. So keep your eyes open in the North West thread for the location poll, and if we can drum up support to every so often have a combined meet so much the better.

If anyone has any thoughts on this particular issue pm me - let's try and keep this thread on topic.

The Nags Head or The Memphis Bell.

Mike,

If it were more central then you'd get more people from other areas. Personally, the prospect of a 170 mile round trip on a work night doesn't appeal.

I know Martin - I appreciate this - one of the main reasons I wasn't at Squires tonight. Up until now we've been piggy backing onto the Jap North West meet, which was the established meet from when I inherited the "job". This meet is nearly 100 mile round trip for me.

It's difficult to find a central location which is accessible for Staffordshire, Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria and Yorkshire. Weekday nights are difficult but people tend to have other plans at weekends whereas a weekday night you can usually make time for.

The Nags Head

The Memphis car park is much larger - any suggestions from your members?

Memphis Bell is crap food from my experience.

Don't know about the Nags Head.

Even though I voted for "same day" maybe we should tweek the day. At least giving people the option of Mascrat.

Long term I do think we should find somewhere near(ish) to Mascrat, so we don't make it too far for the Cheshire and North Staff lads to travel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as your all aware of last months fiasco at mascrat , i had to do some bargaining with mascrat staff and the plod. the police wanted to shut us down there and then! which would of give us no time to sort a new location for our meets. i spoke to mascrat management today and was told that the police want to restrict us to no more than 50 cars per meeting
this months meet at mascrat will be the last one we hold there, and next month we will have a new location
there is a possibility that there will be a new location meeting this month but nothing is set in stone as yet. we will keep you informed as soon as we know any news.

marc.

Doesn't look like we'll get in anyway.

Its always difficult trying to suit everyone :( I tried to organise a local meet not long after I joined the forum but couldnt sort a date to suit everyone.

Thing is for some of us further south is that we're sandwiched between east mids and North Staffs/Cheshire so we tend to loose out on Leicester and NW meets.

I'm going to try and get feed back from some local owners on a possible good mid point for a meet - staffs or shropshire. Hopefully it will be close enough that you can join us too! ;)

i dont see why we cant move the supra only meet to another day, its not effecting the people who are only gona do the supra only meet, but it does effect the people who want to do both. it some be cut and dry in my opinion.

As long as it's not Wednesday or Friday, I'm easy although Monday is the better night for me it's nowt a quick shuffle won't sort out.

dazla
06-09-07, 20:32
I'd rather have the choice of doing both. I'd like to think i could still pop down to the mascrat and see a few supes and then have another meet somewhere else for the supes only. maybe on a Friday night so no one has to worry about work the following day.

Pixelfill
06-09-07, 21:22
Right I've had a look at the Jap North West forum and it seems that they are looking to move from Mascrat imminently (probably before the next meet), but they will want to keep the same date. On that basis how about this month we stuff Mascrat and go to the Wiggin Tree as suggested above as we are running out of time to decide. Also I doubt we'd get into Mascrat given the 50 car limit :taped: and given how many people have already said they are going from Jap North West.

So this month we stick to 2nd Monday and have a Supra only meet (cough Smigzy cough ;)) at the Wiggin Tree. then next month we look at moving to a different week. so that we can still piggy back JNW but at a different venue.

Longer term I'm loathe to change from a Monday night as if you move to a Friday it's a pubs busiest night, also often people will have plans for a weekend which will preclude them from meeting which will in turn mean that the turnouts will suffer. Although mid week is a PITA due to having to work the following day it's not as though you are missing out on getting lashed as you wouldn't be driving the Supe if that was your plan. If Ian can cope with being the last to leave a meet and getting up at stupid o'clock the following morning, and at his age too :p the rest of us have no excuse.

Also given that the JNW meet still looks to be around Warrington - perhaps south of Thelwall I think the Supe meet should move Northwards and maybe eastwards M61/65 somewhere to try and balance the NW region up abit, if Linda is still looking at a meet Shropshire way then we've got a real variety of possible meets.

How does that sit with you all?

Mike

I have to say im in favour of a meet slightly more northwards. Im living in south cumbria now and Mascrat is a treck now. But i appreciate that there a probs more of you guys further south.

Also im supraless these days , so maybe a supra only event doesnt effect me too much unless you are willing to open it up to other japanese cars.

Fixed the thread title ;)

Adam, it looks like Jap North West are staying at Mascrat - last month was a lot quieter apparently, non of [-]us[/-] the undesirables ;)

Charnley Arms is a good pub, but the car park is no where near as good as Mascrat - too dark, and the remnants of smashed car windows worried me last month.

If we are staying away from Mascrat then we need to find a better venue imho.

I can't make this month as I'm on holiday :party:so have a good one.

Mike

PS If anyone is planning on going to Mascrat this month it would appear that Jap North West are operating a "poster policy" rather than submitting your license plate as last month you need to print out a flyer and take that with you - if anyone needs the file to print and isn't a member of Jap North West let me know.

Didn't mean it like that - i could do with you in the car :) Tom toms are crap compared to you and Mike is worse - i asked him if you get on the M6 at Preston from the M60? (we were meeting at Warrington). Neadless to say you dont!!!!

I spend 2 hours driving up towards the M6 getting lost on Monday and then 1 1/2 hours getting lost yesterday.

We are going to the Charnely on Monday whether we are there on our own or not. Agree that maybe we should choose a different day to the Mascrat Meet for future months, but it's a little late in the day to raise that issue when this meet has been planned for weeks!

I know i wasnt there when the police turned up last time at mascrat but it really doesn't bother me that the owners called them. After all, what pub landlord would want a 1000 jap cars on there car park. I bet they get alot of complaints from the family's that are trying to eat and drink and as landlord its there duty to follow the complaints up. And cars were parked all over the entrance.

So what if the police turn up, if you've nothing wrong or illegal with the car then theres nothing to worry about. I'm only saying because i like the mascrat meet, nice pub, nice food, good atmosphere and alot of other cars to look at. I'll go with the majority but thats just my opinion.

personally i think we should keep the mascrat as it is and organise another day for a supe only meet.

Final thought

We go to mascrat weather they like us there or not. Eat there food, drink whats on offer and piss off. I just see it as using and abusing them for us lads to have a get together.

:yeahthat: and i can't believe that Jap northwest are staying their TBH. I use to really enjoy Mascrat but its not worth getting pulled and/or fined every month :( All they had todo was introduce some sort of entry system and a couple of security men at the entrance, which would have cost nothing compared with how much they must take over the bar in an evening! So sorry dude just dont fancy it :) And i dont have a bloody car to drive in anyway :(

I appreciate what you are saying Daz and would like your company on Monday but I have a couple of issues! Gaz Eves started this thread early last week and I feel it's a bit much to try and change things from the Charnley at the last minute after people have said they were going!

I would imagine I will return to Mascrat in the future as I have enjoyed previous meets there. I go for the company more than anything though and if the majority were going to Mascrat every month then I would probably swallow my pride and go back there. There is no point me cutting my nose off etc.

BUT!! I was there at the bar when that fat bitch said "We'll get rid of them all one way or another!!" :( She then had the brass neck to deny that they'd called the Police in the first place but her husband had a different story when we arrived there. Now she may have just meant the chav element of the meet but they had been getting complaints from "normal" members of the public and I am led to believe that certain people would not move their cars to let them out!!:(

I am not putting my hard earned....:D money behind the bar of a place that is willing to take the cash but get's the rozzers involved to solve a small problem! Talk about "Sledge hammer to crack a Walnut!".

I think next month we organise a Supra meet on another night to Mascrat but for this month people should go with the majority. Although I would be persoanlly disappointed if people missed this meet as it's the people I go for!!:)

I can't help you out here guys as I fly to Spain tomorrow, I used to like the atmosphere at Mascrat, and as long as the atmosphere has returned I'm happy to return, I think that a couple of months of abstinence might help the management to appreciate what they have done, but I'm also agreed that a Supra only meet elsewhere is a good idea, but might be sensible to stagger the date in future - it is likely that one of the two events will win out in the end, and IMHO whichever is the better friendlier venue is likely to take it.

I quite like the charnley arms as a venue - but if anyone wants to point out that the car park could do with better lighting this month please feel free to do so ;)

See you guys and gals at the next one (as long as it's after 23rd October )

I had some fun and ended up like I had eaten a horse by the time I got home...

I can fix your LPG anytime really.... well evenings and weekends..

I think I will get on with my conversion over the next couple of weeks as I am sick of my 7mpg thirst for super unleaded when I have a tank of propane in the garden with juice at 32p a litre :d. I will just have boost set to low when on LPG and high when on petrol as the gas kit I have cant really fuel above 350bhp.
I doubt it will affect the performace at all at low boost other than the weight as the octance is around 114 so the engine should compensate by adding more advance to the ignition. An aspirated engine looses power mostly due to the gas taking up space in the cylinder that would normally occupy gas and that the ignition curve is not suited to its burn properties. A turbo engine can pretty well compensate for this by blowing in a bit more air..

I run an alfa 147 gta day to day with a 3.2 v6 250bhp on LPG which makes it cheaper to run than a good diesel so 7mpg average in my supra really gets on my wick...

Speak soon

Phil

It was a good laugh last night, and theirs me complaining that i miss the food at mascrat, Its the same bloody menu:D good result.

Its not a bad pub for a meet. its just a shame about the lighting and size. But i suppose its fine for a supra only meet.

Just wish i was coming on the Blackpool Illuminations:(
