Schtuv
OK - I've used the fabled 'search' function, and returned several different answers to this question ... thought I'd ask it again and see what the concensus is; In an imported 1994 NA with a limiter still fitted, what happens at 112mph? I've heard "There's just no more power", but I've also heard "...and the engine cut out for a few seconds". I remember in my Mazda that fuel would just stop getting sent to the engine at that speed, and 'just in case I ever go that fast' I was wondering what to expect. I know there's the school of thought that says "Just try it and find out", but I wouldn't like to be suprised, hurt the car, or possibly be a danger to others. People may say "Just remove the limiter, and never worry about it", but I know what I'm like and having it installed keeps me in check, as it were. Ian C
It's a soft limiter, you'll feel power drop off as if you just eased off the accelerator while say coming up to a roundabout. It'll come back on again just below 112 and repeat until you get the hint -Ian
Pete
As Ian says, I experienced this for the first time at the weekend as I wondered what would happen if I took mine off . It just slowly cuts power like as if you eased slighlty back off the accelerator.
Schtuv
Thanks for the replies, guys - I was wondering about that. After seeing the comment buried in the archives here I was a little concerned about everything stopping dead. Probably just paranoia Right - time to find a quiet private road and check this out!
