Blackened my cockpit

As it was nice and warm today, I used my Turtle wax blackener to swap the faded look of the interior to something more black.

Heres some pics when dry. You can see before and after

I used a similar thing on my dash on another car and in the sunlight whilst driving it reflected the sun badly

The black bits look good mate - so good even the white bits are black :) Not too sure about the wooden dash though :(

I used Hammerite matt black paint on the upper surfaces of my dash - completely killed reflection/glare :)

Hah yea its not wooden. Yea dont worry thats coming off, either for a light silver or a carbon dash.

I use the wipes.. they tend to be easier to use without getting messy.

got to go for the clean look not the shiney .

only time i do the shiney look is if the customer asks for it , then it comes out of a tin and smells nice

looks good I will be doing that tomorrow night, got my door trim off at the mo so should be nice and easy

can i ask what you use for the clean look then?

Just stay away from bodyshops for a while....

Anyone got a sure-fire way off sorting a dash top that has gone shiny. Mine reflects the sun badly as well. I've had much advice and none of it's worked.

Might go for that Hammerite method.

Did you use it straight from the tin or water it down first?

well the stuff i use , is autoglym rubber cleaner , trigger it on and wipe off , seems to get most of the crap off , and leaves a nice matt finish

this stuff has a multitude of applications , although it says rubber cleaner its , for tyres plastic vinyl

i think its only trade red , its about £30 for 5ltrs

Straight from the tin - very thin paint so the standard wrinkled finish shows through and the whole thing looks stock :)
