View Full Version : 26th April 2003 - Bolney Stage Pub

Branners

Next event in the schedule appears to be Bolney, so heres some details.

***** SATURDAY 26TH APRIL 2003 *****

Bolney Stage Pub, Bolney, south of Gatwick.

Bonley was one of the largest japUKmeets events last year. The pub closes to all 'normal' customers and is open solely for the japanese car owners. Theres parking for hundreds of cars in the surrounding roads and all the jap car clubs turn up.

They intend to provide a more appropriate menu this time round as they feel the last one didn't quite fit needs.

Maps and Directions

The meeting place is a pub called the Bolney Stage and Oakroom Restaurant and its at London Rd, Bolney, West Sussex, RH17 5RL.

Bolney is just off the A23, if coming round the M25 go to Junction 7 and turn on to the m23 towards Brighton, then when the M23 finishes follow the A23 towards Brighton and look for signs for Bolney. The pub is easy to find as its on the road in to Bolney.

The event starts at about 11.30am, and the usual disclaimer applies, you are responsible for your own actions at all times, expect a police presence and if you misbehave then you only have yourself to blame when you get fuzzed!!

this is a link to a large scale map
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?grid2map?X=526476&Y=123835&arrow=Y&zoom=5

and this is a zoomed in map

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?grid2map?X=526476&Y=123835&arrow=Y&zoom=4

There will be the usual South Mimms convoy. Be at South Mimms for 9.30am, convoy leaving at 10.00am sharp, going clockwise over the QE Bridge and then straight down to Bolney.

There may be other convoys from Clacky and other places.

Oo, John, is Leon going to be sporting his new paint job for Bolney, or is he waiting for Billing to show it off? :conf:

I 'believe' Leon is going to Doncaster Custom Car Show this coming weekend...assuming everything is back where it should be.

I dont know if Leon is actually coming to Bolney, I have added it to the list of events that he's attending on his new web site (which should go live soon) so Im expecting him to be there.

Glad to see that so many Supra's are coming along again. I hope the weather holds out this year....and i have my fingers crossed that things work out as well and that everyone enjoys it as much.

See you guys there....

Daz

PS I'll be the bald guy that'll probably be asking you to either head into the car park or "drive on" - depending on how much space is left !!

Cheers,
Daz

Good meet, yes. Nice location. Wasnt too impressed with some of the driving along that road down from the pub though. There were lots of small children around.

No Supras involved I'm glad to add.

Yep was a good meet, thanks to the weather amongst many things.

Reckon we should suggest a 'Name and Shame' section on Jap UK Meets for the *ickheads bombing up and down the road.

Good to meet some new faces.

Sounds like you all had a good day, I totally forgot about it, whats all this about bad driving outside the pub?
Hope to make the next meet..... :)

Patrick_Devlin
26-04-03, 20:43
There was alot of people walking up and down the road looking at the cars as usual, some with kids, there were a few people who insisted on driving up and down too fast, showing everyone how load their exhausts and dump valves were. Pretty dumb really. I mean everyone knows that the cars are 'fast' but guarenteed that there would have been alot of cars there that are considerably more powerful.

:(

Bobbeh
26-04-03, 20:48
Yeah, its not quite the same as Boxhill which has a separate road section for that sort of thing, I was walking about and was a tad concerned about my safety. Some people did slow when I turned around to look at them.. which was kinda nice.

Thorin

It wasn't Datsun Sunny drivers was it? or whatever they are called (Nissan Pulsar/GTiR?) :p

There were guys with various types of car.. it wasnt anything too serious imho. The odd mini burnout etc

Usmann A

What a shame....but what can you do, cos these meets are all perfomance based for some.
So how many of you lot were a the mimms?

Bobbeh
26-04-03, 21:27
There were about 7/8 Supra peeps.. waaaay to many Civic Type R's tho :)

Did anyone see Mark Ayling? :conf:

Andyp
26-04-03, 21:32
I had a good time too despite my car not being ready, convoy up there was very interesting.... watching a Silver Vectra filled with old women try to ram a civic off the m25 as he cut him up slightly and then some complete dumb tool in a white van who was sitting on everyone's bumper decided just to have a random go at me... (this countries full of nice people isn't it!)

Nethertheless I gave him a one fingered salute and he drove off to unblock more toilets :p

Nice to meet some new people too, esp enjoyed hearing about the rivalry Qaisar has with his neighbour :p

Just gutted Lloyd Christmas didn't turn up :innocent:

Look forward to seeing some of you lot again at Castle Combe on the 17th!

Cheers!

Adam W
26-04-03, 22:15
Severely pissed off that I missed it, specially as the weather was so nice! Had to put my bumper back together after a minor "off" yesterday . . . :baa:

Did the convoy stick together this time? What was the total turnout like?

qaisar
26-04-03, 22:30
i had a good day, nice to put some more faces to names.

the convey from south mimms was shall we say intereting. that white van driver was really annoying

looked like it was gonna rain but turned out to be nice weather, dudersvr's engine bay was attracting a lot of attention and dealing out the back of the car ;)

Andy P was lusting over all the rx7's and thinking about when he's gonna get his :D

not been to one of these before and now looking forward to billing, hopefully will have the new car by then.

26-04-03, 22:52
Thanks Martin, for waking me up with a phone call, I over slept big time, but that’s another story.

Missed the convoys altogether, but had a bit of fun with a couple of lads in a Scoobie, we got stuck in a two mile jam at the A21 junction, had a bit of a chat , he had not heard of Bolney, he was going to another meet elsewhere.

It was packed when I arrived just after 1.00 I guess 400 to 450 cars, had to drive up and down twice looking for a parking space. There were a few nutters in front of me as I drove up towards the pub a second time. Some git was doing burn outs as he drove between pedestrians. I think the car doing the burn outs was a red 300ZX but the smoke was so thick I am not sure, I agree name and shame, these twits get the rest of us a bad name.

Great to see familiar faces again and good to meet a few new faces and link them up with BBS names. Great weather and apart from the nutters, a good atmosphere.

I left about 3.00 to go and pick up some spare for the car. Had a lovely drive back, had a Boxster give it a go but he did not last long.

I like the pictures Gandolf, particularly the one of my feet;)

Had a great day, nice to see the following of all the different Marques, the GTO guys had a good turn out, nice assortment of Supes, Skylines and just generally good clean car fun.............
I was really surprised at the complete abscence of Mr Plod....but then again from what i saw he was'nt needed anyway.
Look forward to the future meets.........:p

Managed to get along very late in the afternoon, as a very nice blue (race-spec stylee) Skyline popped and crackled into the car-park. Only a couple of Supras left at that time.

I don't think the police bother because they know we're not a bunch of 17 year olds in a Southend multi-storey.

Had just been to JIC, ....

..cos I'm gonna sell the NA and get a TT!

Yeah, wicked stuff.

Turned up at just after 11:30 and got a shite parking spot! Then worked out that there was no way that we were going to queue for food @ the pub so we drove back to Horsham and got a huuuuge MaccieD's and then came back. At that point we got an excellent parking spot right on the lawn infront of the pub and saw a load of really nice soops and GTR's. Way too many Civics tho!!

I really wanted to meet some of you guys from the board but because I'm a relative newbie I didn't know who was who. I think we should wear name tags next time lads!!! I did however hang around the "clear rear clusters soop" for a time looking well interested, but noone emerged that appeared to own it! Oh well!

Totally agree on the name and shame thing, 'kin dickheads. :twak: I really wish they knew exactly what everyone *really* thought of them.

I've got a load of pics that I will post up when I've removed all the no. plates!

Hehe just as a point of interest (not that it's interesting) but I don't think i'll be dining at that pub in future if what I paid today was a discount rate, seen cheaper food at the Ritz! Even if it was served up by a blonde cutie!

Sounds like it was a good day - I was thinking of you all a couple of miles down the road from me as I looked out my front room window at the sun shining down on my lovely clean car :(

Basically, my bro was meant to be driving my car up there, but he couldn't make it in the end - absolutely gutted! Boo-hoo!

Nice to see John Branners and Matt Harwood on the day. Also met Kuba in his red Supra. Some really nice Supras there. did anyone see the Castrol Supra (was parked on the road, just by the pub) in the Daily Mirror the day before?

Andy Barnes R34 sounded awesome too. Didn't see it in action unfortunately.

Cheers Geez',

IF I ever 'upgrade' from me' std17's I'd either like the Lexus ones
(like Matt H's), Some make of multi-fine-spoke (like OZ super-
leggara's ? - but hard to find wide-fittibgs ?)

OR, quite like the Antera's - like yours - 18x10, 18x8.5 ? ?

OR....... YOURS ! ! :sly:

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the Supra turnout....always great to see so many lovely supra's at these meets.

I was very pleased with how things went on Saturday....and so glad the weather was so nice for us - after a dreadful Friday and a fairly dull start to the day.

The overall turnout was over 400 cars....which again i'm very pleased with. I've had several requests for more Bolney meets (i had planned this is the last), so i will continue to do one meet a year...any more than that and it'll become too much and people will lose interest.

My apologies for those who were doing fly-by's....must admit i nearly got run over once or twice myself. I had made it as clear as i possibly could that this would be frowned upon, but a few always get carried away unfortunately. On the whole everyone was well behaved though.

Thanks again....i hope to see you guys back again next year....

Daz

Excellent meet, so many cars, I almost grew a beard in the time it took to dricve past all of them parted up!

Dudesrvr you car was looking fantastic.

Highlights were the Runnynose convoy, the black supes with us (skywater and co) looked quality. The Black R34 with the carbon fibre bonnet, mirrors and rear wing and the R33 estate with the R34 engine. the chap was really nice and kindly spent the time explaining what it was. It must have been my dumbarse stare as I stood there trying to work out what on earth was going on!

A few of us had a run down to brighton afterwards, good laugh with a Mitz FQ-300 and then saw Green Supra down on the front.

The dicks doing the flybyes were just making themselves look stupid. One of them was a silver Almera!!! come on guys. Most of us have spent too much money and time on our cars to put them in any danger.

See you all at Castle Coombe.

Dude

Thats a real pain. I'm really interested in how you got the throttle body, Power stering fluid tank and basically EVERYTHING in your engine bay so shiney, have you removed everything and had it chromed?

If its ok, I know Dave Rex with the Red RX7 that wants to get the paintwork all done, when he comes down is it ok if I pop along and have a butchers, suffering major amounts of shiney bit envy!!!

Speaking of Brighton, I ended up down there at about 5'o clock ish, didn't see any Suprage but quite funny was a guy in a MX-5, supercharged i reckon, largin it up, waving at the girls etc or maybe the boys.

Trouble was, he had me behind him, and a TVR Tuscan Speed six in front. Still, I had to admire his balls.

Dude's engine bay is in Jap Performance mag this month which was taken at Bolney along with a nice white J-spec with Veilside side skirts and a nose like Dude's Mxxx XHC.

Sorry, don't have my digi cam at the mo.
