Jim_1979
Is it possible?? In a manual you would rev the car a little and drop the clutch... what do you do in an Auto?? Do you just plant your foot??... no reving etc? (asking loads of questions, I know... but your info is greatly accepted!! )

Guru
Get a line lock kit and then rev to 3k while holding it on.....then release!
mattanna
Launch it in manual mode should be possible i think bit of brake, but dont want to fry auto clutches really

gaijin
On the www. mkiv.com site the advice is:o/d off(think)put the handbrake on,push hard on the foot brake, rev to what you will, then release all brakes and floor it.There is also a manu method.Same routine, but be ready to change gear and put it back in auto and put the o/d back on;if you reach that speed. They say it takes practise. Gazboy
I found launching it as if the brake was a clutch pedal worked best, but don't rev over 2k and don't do it for too long or you'll fubar something. I outdragged a 5.0 V8 M5 doing this.
paul mac
to be honest mate i've driven autos all my life and dont go in for any of this power braking mallarky, just floor it, you may be out dragged for the first 30 ft but then its all over unless you are up against something special and that aint happened to me yet
Jim_1979
why would you "fubar" somthing if you keep your foot on the brake?? That's how you do standing burn outs is it not?? .... lol
letmeshowyou
it cooks the gearbox oil pretty quickly unfortunately
supraman382
think you overheat the transmission fluid. Is it not safe to rev it in Neutral and slam it in drive?
letmeshowyou
I'm sure it would be safe for a few attempts. After that it may well go pop!
JohnA
..That's how you do standing burn outs is it not?? .... lol Indeed it is. ...but fit a couple of extra autobox coolers if you want to lower the risk of blowing the transmission...
