Leon MOT Failure

My g/f's 99/W Seat Leon 1.4S has just failed it's MOT.

The car has done well under 50k miles and has been serviced only a couple of months ago.

The failure was for cracks in BOTH of the rear springs. Does this sound feasible or d'you think the garage is taking the pi55?

Sounds like a p**s take to me :conf: How the hell do you crack both rear springs, wouldn't the shocks give out before that?

Does she drive it down huge flights of stairs? :p

nope, no driving down flights of stairs and the trustworthy mechanic who serviced the car (have relocated since) didn't notice it when it was serviced a couple of months back.

i think these guys are taking the pi55 but wasn't sure as i'm not the most mechanically minded of people.

anyone else care to comment?

this is exactly what i'd do Bijal. problem is i'm about three hours away from her in Inverness and i know they'll try and fob her off and say they've lost or disposed of them already.

really annoyed now.

Sounds like a stitch up, they are supposed to tell you what is wrong and let you decide what to do.

we had a mercedes a class in our garage for test. a 51 plate and that had two cracked rear springs. looks like they hadnt been located right when it came out of the factory. so it is possible. andy

no mate, they asked the customer (my girlfriend) is she wanted to OK them to do the work (which included waiting a day for two springs would you believe?!).

the problem is that the car needs to be taxed tomorrow and that can't be done without this MOT so she just said yeah, do it.

how did u get on mate? I've NEVER heard of rear spring problems... sounds like BS to me...

Std Leon shocks are naff though..
