Is it worth going to kwik-fit?

My exhaust is blowing from the down pipe. I tried everything to undo the two bolts at the join but cannot get any leverage to undo them. I've tried every tool I've got but i reckon I need the vehicle on ramps with an air gun on a long extension. Is it worth me going to these people or does anyone know anyone near Rainham in Essex that can have a look at it for me without charging the earth to do so? Forgot to add - I have checked & it's not cracked.

Kwik-fit are much more likely to have experience of doing this type of work than Brian's 'local garage'. I go to kwik-fit for diffcult front decats and oil changes and find the 'spotty morons' there more than helpful and adequately skilled to do the job.

Not sure which joint you are talking about though. The joint between first and second cat has two bolts but are easy to get at. Where the first cat bolts to the turbo downpipe is three bolts.

Oh I see.

No offence mate but it would help if you said what type of Supra we're talking about when asking technical questions. Or put it in your Sig.

I've never worked on a NA yet so don't feel qualified to answer.

your dead right so i should:twak:

Went to a local Quick Fit for my decat, and glad i did as i suspected at least one stud sheared and had to be re taped, and they where all a pain to get undone, also had to get a torch on the decat as it sat to high, so all in all 30 quid well spent, and surprisingly enough they weren't spotty twats, they where very helpful and knew what they where about! one owned a Renault Alpine and another a 300ZX.

Yeah, I had the same thing decatting a VVTi a while back. Snapped manifold studs = drilling, retapping  Not the kind of thing you want to do on your driveway and not what you want to pay a garage £60/Hr to sort out.

2 hours later I gave the KwikFit guy £40 cash, he put it in his pocket and was over the moon!

Win/Win!

I gave him a ride home in the Supra because he'd missed his lift due to staying on and finishing my car. He was loving it! Can't do enough for me now.... £20 cash Mobil1 fully synth oil changes? Oh go on then! :sly:
