Engine cleaning

What is the best way to go about cleaning a really dirty engine bay?

My idea was WD40 on everything electonic, then cover it all, with something. Then spray engine de-greaser everywhere, then give it some time, and then attack it with a pressure cleaner.

Then spend a load of time polishing all the metal parts.

Is that about right?? Anything that I need to know before I start?

Best products to use?

Thanks,

Graham

go out and buy a tub of "red box wipes" made by swafega (most stuff they make is shit), but these are amazing, i've yet to find something these don't work on.

will not damage paint either, do a search on the net.

not seen them on sale in shops, maybe sell to companies direct

I thought it would take ages but it was only a 5 minute job. Unfortuntely ive no "after" pics as tbh there wasnt much difference after washing it. The engine bay itself was pretty clean already i just thought it might take some of the discolouration off the Cam Covers and Throttle body but it didnt. It did bring the exhaust manifold up nice though, if i get chance at some point ill take a pic of that.
