How to remove the rear view mirror??

OK, for the benefit of anyone wanting to know:

The rear view mirror is screwed to a baseplate which is attached directly to the front window. The thread is threadlocked on tight, so torque is required. The screw has a star-shaped head...not sure which size (I'll check again later).

The screw joins the mirror to a section of the base plate that is only held in place by a spring, pushing a couple of ball bearings into slots - manipulate this spring using needle-nose pliers.

If you torque the screw too much, the springs will let go, and the whole mirror will come off in your hand...fine if you're trying to remove it. Not so fine if you're trying to replace it.

Hope that helps anyone else who needs to do this for any reason.
