Just left the girlfriends and when I started it heard a loud squeek which I have heard before jsut after starting up and then all the lights came on. Upon inspection the fan belt hasn't snapped its just come off, however there is a large silver disc that has come off which possibly turned something or held it on??? It is the disc right in the centre.

Is it safe to drive without the fan belt, there is an oil light on does that mean oil pressure??? Can any mechanic get this silver disc back on??

On the plus side someone walking passed did say how he looked at the motor every time he walked passed and loved it. lol.

Thanks for any help.

Called out greenflag so there on their way..won't be able to get a picture up til tomorrow. It is a metal disc that just looks like all the others, I think its like a big ring and its come off the circular thing in the middle. Dunno where to get them to tow it too, my house or the citroen specialist I used to go to.

Sounds like the crank pulley, yes they do fall apart eventually, the rubber bonding between the centre and the ourter ring deteriorates and it falls apart. Lucky you weren't doing any speed, they can easily destroy your rad and other bits.

Thanks for the help looks like that was bang on it, the outer ring has come off the crank pulley. Biggest cowboy of a recovery man, felt like he had to prove something to me. First, "how much was it, 6k?" and "yeah i used to have one imported loads myself a nissa scara and an evo 8 or was it 7 or maybe 6?" . Rekoned he used to have one similar he got himself for 4k.
