I know this should be in Technical but i need quick replies if possible so ive posted it in here. Mods feel free to move it once ive got the info i need.

1. What are these pipes? And does anything need to be done to them when fitting a FMIC because from what i can see they get in the way.

2. Where is the best place to actually mount the IC?? Ive got the brackets that came with the kit but not sure exactly where to fasten them.

Cheers.

Hi Gaz

1. They are your air con condenser pipes, when i fiited my i retained those pipes but had to make custom brackets to push the FMIC forward away from the pipes. Then i have fitted the ducting panels around the FMIC as well to make sure it cools ok.

Regards

Rob

The pipes look like the power steering cooling pipes but not 100% sure

I am pretty sure they are the power steering cooling pipes. They are on a 6 speed anyway.

Some fmic kits come with alternative pipes (see attached pic) that are mounted to the side so they sit in the airflow from the small duct on the right hand side of a stock bumper. This clears the space for the fmic

It does involve draining the ps fluid.

Hope this helps

You might get away with it if its a 2 row fmic but a 3 or 4 row I wouldnt think so.

If you dont have a complete kit I would try to get my hands on one of the pipes in the pic.

I recently fitted my greddy 3 row.

All the bits came with it though

Sorry I cant be more help.

John

Right, got the Cooler half mounted and thought id line up the pipework to see what mods i needed to do there and both the tow eyes are in the way. Anyone else encountered this and what did you do about it. The drivers side one isnt too bad but the passenger side may need to come off im thinking.

Ok, cooler is on, pipework all connected, all thats left is to relocate my coolant overflow. Where is the best place to put this. Ive included a few pics if anyone fancies drawing on them where to put it.

There is actually space between the FMIC and radiator i think but no way of attaching it.

Any suggestions??

Next to the battery.

It hits the nearside Tow eye because the eye is bent.

YOu dont have to take them off at all. Also I noticed its agled incorrectly, I woudl thing the lower mounting brakets have been installed in correctly.

Cheers Martin, not installed the lower brackets yet thats why its slightly angled wrong, need to get a welder from my dads before i can do that.

By next to the battery do you mean between the IC pipe and battery? Wont it get a bit hot there that close to the throttle body and rest of engine?

im having the exact same problem at the mo....I have twin fans to sit between the cooler and rad to help cooling!!

did you manage to move the PS pipes in the end....there is also a bit on the drivers side which I can only describe as looking like a deoderant can...anyone know what this is and if it needs moving?

I am also confused as it looks like I have two rads installed.....is one the power steering cooler and does it need removing as well??

Hmmmm sorry for the :hijack:

Cheers Rich, where did yo uget that from and much was it, if you dont mind me asking.

Mikey, the power steering pipes just about managed to fit between the Rad and the IC, needed a bit of "persuasion" but they are behind there.

Took the Towing eyes off in the end but ifi can bend them back into shape ill put them back on.

Cheers, bit pricey for me at the mo but may consider it at a later date. Any other suggestion as to where to move the current one to.

Ive seen and heard people using a Red Bull can to do the same job but always thought this was a bit dodgy, any opinions on this??
