I have the same and its embarrasing, gget exhaust done next week and its getting taken off
which heat shield is it? lol
ps
i just did the same as jamesmark and removed them :)
Can you try to describe exactly what rattling you are hearing?
I have this very very very very annoying (and embarrassing) rattle and for the life of me I cannot find where it's coming from.
yep sure ... its a rattle from under the car ... mainly happens when sat at traffic lights ... as soon as you start moving it goes... also goes most of the time if you put it in N (auto box)... its not a grinding noise.
hope that helps

Where does it sound like it's coming from. Passenger or Drivers side? Or just simply underneath?
simply underneath .... i will know more tomorrow bud ..
just so i know before i get started are the heat shields on top or underneath the exhaust?

Wouldn't shield anything if they were underneath it mate....:)
They are on top. If you've got a digital camera, could you take some photos?
Are the heat shield the same on a TT?

i had the same problem and it gets very embarrasing ! the heat shield starts at the bottom of your downpipe and thats where the rattle comes from ! the actual shield raps fully around the exhaust it not just a cover at the top ! i just took mine off and was done with it and that was problem solved !!!
Is this the bit you're talking about?

Mines are all gone now and no more rattles, its bliss as got new exhaust and 2nd decat pipe fitted yesterday.
is it safe to run with no heat shields? Surly they were there for a reason I have an RS*R and I still have the old heat shild's in place (where the original silencers were)
