View Full Version : 10" sub - what volume box?
Got myself a cheap 10" sub for a little extra boomp in the back:) It's un-boxed so I'm wondering if anyone can give me a rough idea what volume box I should build? Also, should I port it or not?
N.B. It's a cheapie so no real specs as such on it but I listen mostly to reggae, RnB and Rap if that makes much difference:d

the exact volume really will depend on the make and model - to sound good for that kind of music I'd say you want it to be on the larger side tho!

well, mine is in the region of 0.5cuft cos I like hard house!
I'd suspect somewhere between 0.75 and 1.0 cuft should see you right :)
Cheers mate - ported or sealed?

Sealed about 1cu ft will be good for most 10'' subs. you get a better frequency response from the sub if you keep it sealed.
Use WinMSD and see if you can put your subs parameters in...

I'd def go with sealed aswell :)
Mate, Halfrauds do a 10" box which if you put it onto it's back with the face facing the rear window, fits nicely! Won't be able to use the boot cover though
Edit: Dimensions attached

Cheers mate - but I wanna make up my own box to fit under the cover - stealthy like:d Had cars busted up before just to get to the subs so this time I need to keep it low key visually;)

Ended up getting a 12" box from them instead:Pling: My 'effort' was a bit of a cock-up anyway and by the time I'd bought the carpet, terminals etc. it'd cost me almost as much. As it was I got an Alpine 12" sub and they forgot to charge me for the box as well:d :d Rear cover still hides it well and sounds fine:)
